Job Description:

The Blackstone Strategic Opportunity Fund ("BSOF") is a multi-strategy hedge fund focused on sourcing, diligencing, and executing special situation investments. Launched in 2011, BSOF pursues investments across asset classes and geographies, operating under a flexible, opportunistic mandate. From its position within BAAM, the BSOF investment team is able to leverage BAAM's platform across 130 hedge fund relationships, along with the broader Blackstone network (including Real Estate, Private Equity, Credit, and Strategic Partners), to source attractive investment opportunities. The group recently launched a new business dedicated to capital markets driven liquidity events, including IPOs, secondary offerings, and other dislocated situations. The group is looking to hire an investment professional to join a growing team dedicated to this strategy.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting fundamental analysis on multiple companies across sectors at a dynamic pace

  • Constructing detailed financial models and valuation analysis on individual securities

  • Representing the team in front of management teams, banks and other participants in the capital markets ecosystem

  • Monitoring existing investments by maintaining company models and updating position-level investment scenarios and risk/reward expectations

Qualifications:

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition to strong analytical and quantitative skills, the successful candidate should have:

  • 2-6 years of equity research, investment banking and/or public equities investing experience

  • Strong accounting and financial modeling skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with strong ability to form relationships

  • A demonstrated ability to write effectively

  • A desire to work in a team environment, often under pressure
