The position of BA Entry/Welder Operator is responsible for all operating functions as listed below. Operation of the BA Unit must be understood in total with the focus of utilizing the equipment to meet all the quality and productivity goals as outlined in our quality system. All work instructions must be followed as outlined.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.) Check schedule of coils to be run to insure all coils are in the bay.
2.) Feed coil to shear, cut off leaderstrips, cut scrap to proper gauge, feed head of coil to welder. Enter leaderstrip data for each coil in AS400.
3.) Weld coil to tail of preceding coil.
4.) Communicate to the furnace operator the coil number running and observe for any incoming defects.
5.) Monitor coils in line for steering and defects. Inspect the coils as they are exiting the degrease section for degrease effectiveness and surface defects. Enter all entry inspection notes into AS400 and communicate the entry inspection notes verbally to the shift leader/furnace operator.
6.) Follow all prescribed safety rules. Complete safety training and safety observations monthly.
7.) Housekeeping/maintenance work as assigned.
8.) Any other jobs as assigned.
9.) Fly in empty leaderstrip tables as needed and remove full tables.
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.) Other duties as assigned.
2.) Participation in continuous improvement programs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a High School Degree or Equivalent (GED).
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1.) Mobility: Stand (stationary)

3.) Dexterity: Grasping (firm/strong), finger dexterity/handling, reaching.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
1.) Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
2.) Follow Company safety rules.
3.) Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.
4.) Mobility in plant
5.) Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
6.) Visual ability with or without correction
7.) Communication abilities
8.) Ability to work a rotating shift (rotating from days to night on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule).
9.) Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:

10.) Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy.
11.) Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines.
12.) Maintain a clean and safe work area.
