Apex Systems has an immediate need for multiple DevOps resources to help further implement DevOps in our clients environment. The program in which you are supporting provides the infrastructure and support functions for which all the user research and funding data is derived, moved and stored.

DevOps Engineer
LOCATION: Washington DC Metro
Candidates must be able to obtain a Public Trust
Design, build, and provide implementation guidance and support for:
A diverse set of cloud environments (Dev/Test, Integration, Stage, PROD etc.) composed of Azure (current) and AWS/on-premises for PaaS/IaaS/SaaS (including the secure build-out of a new DevOps environment for application delivery)
Software-defined network infrastructure technologies focused on security, services operations, e.g. networking, firewall management, proxy, IT health check management, backup, recovery, event management, patching, monitoring, etc.
Provide leadership in developing innovative service capabilities for Cloud environments and in managing Cloud capability projects.
Design and develop automation to support continuous integration & continuous delivery (CI/CD) and processes, analyze client workflows, and determine the best solutions for a successful enterprise Cloud infrastructure.
Work with business stakeholders and senior leaders to deliver on complex, enterprise-level initiatives that are a part of the company's overall strategic direction
Utilize automation tools such as Chef, Jenkins, Subject7, Selenium, Cucumber, SonarQube, BitBucket/Git, Artifactory, ElectricFlow (ElectricCloud), or similar tools.
Assist with upgrading, installing, and configuring monitoring solutions for Azure/AWS for Windows and Linux servers.
Manage firewalls, VPNs, and remote access to servers, based on different user roles and access requirements.
Work in a DevOps capacity with a desire to automate all repetitive processes within Cloud environments.
Maintain end-to-end security ensuring best practices are always implemented.
DevSecOps transformation using tools like Netsparker API, AppScan API, OWASP, OpenVAS, OpenSCAP, etc.
BS degree in an applicable area (Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, etc.)
Azure Certified
4+ years hands-on experience supporting Cloud environments
4+ years experience implementing, migrating, managing, and operating systems/applications in an enterprise Cloud computing environment
Experience with automation tools within Cloud environments in production and lower environments.
Strong practical Linux and Windows based systems administration skills and scripting experience in Cloud environments.
Experience in Container-Orchestration/Containerization tools Docker, Kubernetes.
Experience with the planning, configuration, optimization and deployment of Microsoft Azure and AWS solutions (IaaS, PaaS, VMs, AD, Automation, Monitor, Backup/recovery etc.).
ITIL v3 Foundation certification
Azure/AWS certifications

DevOps Engineer will be an integral member of our Technology department and will work closely with the development, QA and release teams. The role of DevOps Engineer is a hands-on technical role and requires thorough understanding of all components of a modern web application stack, including front-end, database, networking and systems level knowledge. The ideal candidate will bring forward innovative and creative ideas around performance, security, CI/CD and system design in order to help us build and roll out technology solutions for our products. Specific roles and responsibilities: * Manages and automates SaaS platform across multiple environments * Supports and enhances build and release processes through automation using a combination of processes and existing tools * Works with development team on software, system and delivery pipeline optimization, helping to identify and remove potential performance bottlenecks * Creates and maintains system architecture, design and automation * Implements a CI/CD solution for the platform and logging infrastructures * Troubleshoots and resolves issues in hybrid cloud environments * Understands, implements, and automates security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation * Proposes and discusses the merits of infrastructure and tooling options Qualifications: * Minimum of two (2) years of build automation and release management experience in SaaS production environment * Hands-on experience with Linux administration * Familiarity with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Chef, Salt * Production experience in IT operations for an always-up, always-available mission critical service * Working knowledge of ephemeral infrastructure, horizontal scaling, self-healing architectures, service discovery, logging, monitoring and alerting * Experience with AWS, especially EC2, RDS, Lambda, and S3 * Good understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, SSL/TLS and DNS * Familiarity with multiple scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Ruby * Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar * Knowledge of best-practice security, performance and networking techniques for high-trafficked public facing systems * Experience with monitoring tools such as DataDog, New Relic, Cloudwatch * Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including Microsoft SQL, Postgres, MySQL and MongoDB * Excellent debugging and testing skills, and interest to quickly learn new technologies * Experience with Agile methodology and software development * Working knowledge and experience with SaaS is a plus * Strong sense of collaboration, teamwork, and accountability Teaching Strategies, LLC is an equal opportunity employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans and Individual with Disabilities Teaching Strategies, LLC Bethesda MD
