AWS Training and Certification is seeking a driven, talented, and experienced senior level Business Manager to play a critical role on the leadership team within the Worldwide Training and Certification Organization (T&C) as we work to drive revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction for AWS.

As a Business Manager, you can have a positive impact developing and executing organizational, operational and business processes, and assist with strategy development. In this role you will work closely with the Director of Training and Certification and be a trusted advisor to T&C leadership. This role calls for a balance of collaborative leadership and influential skills across the team and beyond, in addition to delivering individual contributions.

In this role, you will be a key member of the T&C leadership team reporting to the head of Strategy & Operations. The Business Manager will be responsible for high-impact programs around our culture, people, and strategic initiatives.

Close partnership with leaders and organizations outside of your immediate team will be necessary as you will compile data and information that will influence decisions at a senior level. Successful candidates should have strong program management, analytical, organizational, and communication skills and a passion for operational excellence.

Key priorities of the role include:

  • Business Planning

o Lead the business planning process aligned with goals, priorities and budgets.

o Partner with leadership and operations to identify and allocate resources across teams.

o Track and report on execution against business plans.

  • Business & Management

o Partner with the Global Operations Leader to set pricing strategies and identify business implications of strategic initiatives

o Drive quantitative assessment of business health and proactively identify improvement opportunities

o Oversee vendor engagements and contract management

o Work with the Communications Manager to drive organization communication plans and messages

o Develop agenda and execute regular T&C organization meetings, including weekly management meetings and quarterly leadership and All Hands

o Prepare and drive monthly and quarterly business updates for executives

o Develop strong, productive relationships across peer organization that further our business objectives

The role involves an implementation of a variety of work streams that span multiple teams and geographic locations in the United States, and requires a background that enables the ideal candidate to create scalable programs that apply holistic approaches to selling to startups and large enterprises. The ideal BDM is an execution leader, able to be the accountable person for ensuring successful, timely and in-scope delivery of multiple customer engagements. The BDM will work with Business Development, Sales, and Solution Architecture teams to track, prioritize, and close customer engagements involving the AWS Serverless services such as AWS Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, and Cognito. The BDM will synthesize data and information gathered from these engagements into succinct findings, derive strategic insights, and persuasively communicate findings and perspectives to Product and Sales teams, including senior leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sales and IT background that enables them to drive Serverless workshop engagements, communicate the benefits of microservice architecture, and interact C-Level executives of large enterprises. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and long-term about the needs of complex, global businesses.
