Job Description:

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has an opening for an AWS DevOps Engineer who will support the implementation and administration of the code build & deploy pipeline as well as the development, testing and triaging of the operational components of a system modernization project for the Office of Child Care Information Systems. Some activities will be in support of the existing development, testing, staging and production environments as well as advising the team on writing and deploying code and systems that will make the environment more reliable, testable, and scalable.


  • Primary responsibility would be to own all the environments and maintain them at required release levels and coordinate with development team and the stakeholders

  • Interact with team members to support and improve the development environment including the tools, technology stack, application performance and stability.

  • Support the design execution of the project to facilitate the efforts and goals.

  • Employ a collaborative environment to support the development of features and functionality

  • Resolve operational concerns through collaboration with other support groups and various engineering teams and plan updates as required.

  • Troubleshoot production issues to address technical commitments and boost sustainability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field required and 5 years of relative experience

  • 2-4 years' experience as an AWS DevOps Engineer supporting large software development efforts.

  • Agile experience

  • Production support experience

  • Experience in AWS Cloud infrastructure

  • Understanding of AWS IaaS components including EC2, VPC, VPN, Storage and databases

  • Experience in building, deploying and managing application code to multiple environments of the COTS applications.

  • Experience with COTS application deployment to AWS public Cloud

  • Experience with both Windows and Linux Operating Systems

  • Knowledge of DevOps methodologies, tools and processes

  • Knowledge of software automation production systems, including code deployment

  • Working knowledge of software development methodologies preferred

  • Previous experience with high-performance and high-availability system support preferred.

  • Solid ability to interface, inspire and motivate at various levels of the organization.

  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.

  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Installation & Administration of Tableau Software (preferable)
  • Experience in VPN network connectivity

GrantSolutions also supported over $60B in Covid grant awards last year and continues this year (CDC, ACF, HRSA, ACL, ASPR, HIS, OASH, ONC). Duties & Responsibilities * Support Cloud development pipelines using Jenkins, Cloud Formation, Puppet and other tools as appropriate * Support containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, other technologies * Script and automate system tasks to reduce manual repetitive work using Terraform, Puppet and other technologies as appropriate * Experience supporting Java applications on Tomcat * Participate in production software deployments working closely with other members of the production support group to ensure the proper transition of system changes into the production environments * Perform general technical trouble shooting & give consultation to development teams * Report issues to management & work to identify root cause of system related issues * Create & maintain technical documentation including system diagrams & operational procedures Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/ Management Information Systems or related field preferred or the equivalent combination of experience, education and training, skills and abilities. * 3 Years of job related experience deploying, maintaining and managing AWS Cloud infrastructures. * Hands on experience with Terraform. * Experience in Amazon Cloud (AWS) using EC2, S3, Code Pipeline, Code Commit, Code Deploy and other related services. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance. #LI-SR1 Compensation The proposed salary range for this position is $78,571 to $117,856.
