Our preference is that you are based in the geographic vicinity of Columbus, are willing to relocate, or can travel regularly to the area to meet with our clients.

Requirements

Trek10 is looking for Architects and Engineers to join our Indy practice group. We design and build massively scalable systems with remarkably high reliability and low cost on AWS for our clients. Our Architects & Engineers are the pioneers and trailblazers in our organization, creating the way forward for our clients and Trek10. This is a complex role that will challenge you beyond technical skills including, among others, strategy, communication, organization, and leadership opportunities. This role includes, but is not limited to, the following:

ARCHITECTS

  • Lead client engagements: be Trek10s face to the world
  • Be a thought leader in scalable next-generation cloud architectures
  • Design, plan, and build greenfield systems on AWS as well as migrations of existing environments
  • Focus on AWS IOT back-ends, Serverless architectures, and highly automated implementation and optimization
  • Lead cross-functional implementation teams to deliver world-class solutions to clients
  • Learn, coach, and share knowledge and skills with other Trek10 team members
  • Augment and design support systems and response procedures and coordinate hand-off to CloudOps Support Engineers
  • Identify and take lead on opportunities to improve individually and at the organizational level
  • Contribute to internal IP and open source development
  • Everything else: Write cool blog posts, do talks at community events, help us achieve additional certifications in the AWS Partner Community, help our clients solve all sorts of problems.

ENGINEERS

  • Own implementation of defined stories and other work items for some of the most technically advanced brands on the planet
  • Increasing opportunities to assist with designing, estimating, and planning efforts
  • Focus on AWS IOT back-ends, Serverless architectures, and highly automated implementation and optimization
  • Participate in cross-functional implementation teams to deliver world-class solutions to clients
  • Participate in delivery efforts using Agile or other work methodologies
  • Participate in customer facing conversations presenting or debating technical decisions and educating our customers
  • Learn, coach, and share knowledge and skills with other Trek10 team members
  • Augment and design support systems and response procedures and coordinate hand-off to CloudOps Support Engineers
  • Identify and take lead on opportunities to improve individually and at the organizational level
  • Contribute to internal IP and open source development
  • Everything else: Write cool blog posts, do talks at community events, help us achieve additional certifications in the AWS Partner Community, help our clients solve all sorts of problems.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years experience in IT (Architects)
  • -OR- 4+ years experience in IT (Engineers)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience architecting and/or building scalable, automated infrastructure
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, code-defined infrastructure, configuration management tools, and CI/CD
  • Significant programming experience in Python or node.js or other
  • Strongly preferred
    • Experience with AWS Lambda and Serverless systems
    • Experience in large-scale enterprise IT environments
    • Experience in a consultative, client-facing consulting role

Has supervisory responsibility for Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks and Interns. The Assistant Engineer is the individual on the project responsible for building parts of the project "on paper". Reports To: Engineer, Project Engineer or Project Manager Essential Duties & Responsibilities*: In the areas assigned: * Acting as liaison with architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, other Turner job staff and owner's representatives in resolving issues related to plans and specifications. * Having general knowledge of all general contract and subcontract documents, as well as the job estimate. Overseeing and making decisions related to contract drawings and subcontract information. Ensuring that all drawings and specifications properly relate to the estimate. * Managing the project budget. * Managing submittals and shop drawings. Assessing conformance to contract specifications. Resolving any conflicts in interpretation. * Negotiating change orders. Managing information on changes in the work; preparing an independent analysis, as required; obtaining and checking estimates for the changes from subcontractor; obtaining approval of the architect and owner; and resolving any conflicts. * Overseeing the close-out process. Preparing final records such as RFIs, close-out records, warranties, as-builts, operation and maintenance manuals, attic stock, and spare parts, and evaluating information to insure compliance with contract documents. * Supervising Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks and Interns, including providing input on performance appraisals. * Preparing scope of work documents for trades. * Developing reports such as General Conditions Items, labor, safety, change order logs and quality control. * Scheduling and managing subcontractor trade coordination meetings, preconstruction meetings and submittal review meetings. * Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of two years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite. Utilizes leading-edge technologies such as BIM and LEAN. Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
