The Revenue Accounting team of AB is in search of a AVP Revenue Accounting Manager to join their U.S. Controller's organization. The candidate will report to the Assistant Controller and will be responsible for the timely and accurate completion of revenue related accounting and reporting processes as well as the training and supervision of the Revenue Accounting staff. The candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment while still ensuring accuracy and accountability across the team. This role partners with other departments including, General Accounting, AUM Reporting, Billing, Global Fund Administration, Financial Compensation, TA Administration, Corporate Tax and other business units and International counterparts.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
5+ years of accounting experience
Understanding of US GAAP
CPA with a Public Accounting background a plus
Qualifications & Skills
Ability to learn quickly and to work independently.
Planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills: Ability to quickly understand and manage the use of non-integrated systems. Position requires the ability to plan and implement changes in short time frames. Must have the ability to assess risk and use appropriate judgement to resolve problems quickly.
Technical skills: Must have a functional understanding of Accounts Receivable and Accounting and Reporting Systems. Also, must have the ability to liaison between business and IT to ensure systems modifications meet the department and organization requirements.
Manage Change: The position should be an agent of change, looking to constantly improve the workflow and processes of the team to increase quality and cash flow to the firm.
Manage Relationships: Will need to work with Institutional Investment Management, Private Wealth Management Sales & Marketing, AUM Reporting, Planning and Analysis, Global Fund Administration and Financial Compensation to reach solutions that benefit the firm.
Team orientation: The ability to build an informed and effective team that is committed to department and organization goals.
Communication and the ability to influence: Maintain cooperative relationships with all levels. Understand customer service and work with internal and external clients to meet their needs to resolve revenue related issues.

Experience in a related industry
Experience with SmartStream product considered a plus

o Investment Advisory and Service Fees for AllianceBernstein's, Commingled Investment Vehicles and Mutual Funds
o Distribution Plan Fees for AllianceBernstein Mutual Funds

o Mutual Fund Reimbursements
Ensure that revenues are recorded in accordance with AllianceBernstein's accounting and reporting standards.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of the consolidated accounting records for AllianceBernstein via supervision of the monthly closing process. This position will work directly with the Assistant Controller and the Director of Corporate Accounting to manage the monthly closing cycle including liaison with other accounting departments to ensure adherence to timelines.
Report material p&l adjustments to Assistant Controller to assess impact on prior periods
Manage the revenue reporting process for the following internal accounting reports:
o Various Revenue Reporting Packages, including analytical commentary
o Balance Sheet Package
o Annual Report, Form 10-K
o Form 10-Q's
Ensure that revenues are recorded to the proper Strategic Business Unit (distribution owner).
Oversee the preparation of account analysis used to maintain and support AllianceBernstein's detailed books and records.
Coordinate with the Assets Under Management Reporting Group to ensure that Revenues and Assets Under Management are reported in a consistent manner.
Ensure that performance fees are recorded properly.
Provide support to various groups within Finance such as Financial Planning and Analysis, Corporate Tax and Financial Compensation.
Liaison to the Financial Systems group related to issues.
Assist with any accounting related technical research as required.
Responsible for/assist with a variety of special projects as required.
Review existing processes and procedures with the objective of proposing and implementing improvements.
Providing training and supervision of the accountants in the Revenue Accounting and Reporting group.
Coordinate year-end and quarterly audit with external accountants and Internal Audit.
