As the AVP of Process Excellence, you will be developing and executing strategic plans for the Quality, Training, Process Documentation and Lean Programs to support operational and clinical excellence in a growth oriented healthcare company. You will lead these teams to innovate current processes and support implementations of new products. Your role is critical to maintain high quality outcomes for clients, patients and team members.


  • Develops the operational strategy for the Quality Management, Training, Process Documentation and Lean programs.

  • Develops objectives, sets priorities, and executes plans consistent with long-term business strategies, while capitalizing on opportunities and managing risks.

  • Manages the Training departments that oversee the Operational and Clinical programs including, the support of large scale implementations, new hire and on-going training programs for internal and external audiences. Knowledge of instructional design principles for instructor-led and web-based training preferred. \

  • Collaborates with the Organizational Development department and executive leaders to design and deliver corporate training programs for leaders.

  • Manages the Lean training program to promote a culture of continuous improvement and critical thinking.

  • Manages Quality Management teams and programs for internal and external operational and clinical audit programs - including programs to support our provider network, and program standards to meet accreditation requirements. Also oversees interrater reliability programs.

  • Manages the Process Documentation teams to create user friendly task-level documentation and manages the Critical Business Process Review Program to ensure risk mitigation and process clarity.


  • Bachelor's Degree required, Masters Preferred in Healthcare or Business Administration or related field.

  • Minimum 7 years experience required.

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification and/or Master Black Belt preferred.

  • Ability to analyze data and coach leaders on use of data required.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to navigate challenging business issues and work as part of cross-functional teams to determine root cause, assess risk and develop business solutions with a clear return on investment.

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs or large project portfolios required.

  • Experience in designing and leading Quality Assurance programs - including interrater reliability in healthcare, insurance industry focused programs centered on operational accuracy and customer service skills.

  • Knowledge of healthcare reporting and accreditation practices such as NCQA, URAC, Joint Commission, STARS, HEDIS or similar.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance regulations.

  • Knowledge of community resources, healthcare delivery systems, case management, call centers, revenue cycle and patient engagement preferred.

  • Experience designing processes and related documentation and/or technical writing for end-users.

  • Experience managing training and educational programs for operational functions and executive audiences.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft products.

VIEW JOBS 2/17/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-17T00:00 Job Description: Role Summary/Purpose: This exciting position will be to lead Synchrony's Robotic Process Automation Center of Excellence (RPA CoE) under the CTO Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emerging Technology team.  You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle including ideation, creation, adoption of intelligent automation solutions using RPA and other automation tools.  As the leader in the RPA CoE, you will lead the RPA roadmap as well as help shape emerging technologies in automation and AI. Essential Responsibilities: * Lead and drive overall success of the RPA CoE. * Drive successful operations in maintaining and enhancing deployed automation solutions. * Manage RPA CoE program activities, governance processes, metrics and measurement to ensure best in class approach to solutions delivery. * Ensure proper scaling of infrastructure and architecture components of SYF's enterprise RPA product (Automation Anywhere); working with other technology teams (e.g. Identity Management, Citrix VDI, Network) to drive Stable Operations. * Forecast staffing and resource (infrastructure, license, etc.) needs as the program grows. * Provide oversight of Process Automation Design, solution development/architecture, frameworks, and ongoing care of solutions. * Engage and help educate SYF organizations in re-imaging processes utilizing RPA and automation technologies to create efficiency, avoid unnecessary costs, reduce/minimize human errors as well as reduce the mundane work done across Synchrony. * Allocation and coordination of RPA CoE resources, formulating best-practices, user training, proactively monitoring issues and risks and driving timely solutions. * Drive troubleshooting and resolve escalated production issues. * Oversee technology guidelines for which RPA solutions should and should not be developed as a micro-service, confederate micro-services, manage a registry, and normalize coding lifecycles for RESTful APIs. * People manager of team members. * Manage vendor relationships and new vendor selection. * Perform other duties and/or lead Proof of Concepts and Proof of Values in AI as needed. Qualifications/Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field (Computer Science, Engineering, etc) with a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience (including military) in Information Technology. * Strong demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and team management capabilities. * Expert level in modern coding practices for a financial institute. * Demonstrated experience in AGILE development practice is a must. * Experience at expert level in Agile software development life cycle – SCRUM/Kanban. * Experience with intelligent automation or RPA technologies such as Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, and UI Path or similar technologies. * Strong knowledge in architecture disciplines and working experience with service-oriented development. * Demonstrated understanding of AI: Cognitive Computing (Deep Q&A) / Large Scale Machine Learning / Deep Learning and other Emerging Technologies. Desired Characteristics: * Adaptable and highly self-motivated in pursuing intelligent automation and emerging technologies. * Solid experience in presentation and excellent verbal/written communications. * Demonstrated experience in AGILE development practice is a must * Solution oriented, synthesizing and analytical skills. * Excellent collaboration skills, ability to achieve results through vendors, and team members, proficient organizational skills, demonstrated passion for execution excellence and agility. * Strong execution ability and a sense of urgency. * Experience with transforming monolithic applications to (micro) services-based architectures. * Experience in solution design, front-end solution development and back-end infrastructure platforms are preferred. * Executive presence and ability to simplify complex concepts for consumption by non-technical business partners. * Experience in Natural Language Processing / Audio & Speech Analytics. * Business acumen in financial services, retail banking and credit card processing is highly desirable.
