The AVP, Actuary and Pricing leads a highly motivated group of professionals to design product solutions with an increasing focus on a simple, customer friendly purchase process and engaging ownership experience.
Design, develop, price and implement competitive, profitable and innovative life insurance products in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
Manage a diverse, professional actuarial staff including mentoring and developing actuarial talent within the department.
Lead cross-functional teams that are focused on simplifying how our products are purchased, ensuring an exceptional customer experience that meets financial targets within acceptable risk frameworks.
Work very closely with Product Managers and Distribution on product solutions that meet the needs of our customers in multiple distribution channels.
Work with the AVP & Pricing Officer to present product financial results and strategy to the business unit CFO for financial approval and to business unit and divisional executive management and the corporate office for product approval
Lead other special projects deemed critical to the Department
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability combined with very strong technical actuarial skills
Risk management focus, with ability to see beyond traditional measures.
Knowledge of IFRS (formerly Canadian GAAP) financial reporting standards, including earnings emergence, deferred taxes, and LICAT capital, as well as the various profit metrics used in pricing
Minimum of 7 - 10 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility, preferably with US individual life insurance (product development or valuation)
