The Assistant Vice President of Product Management and Strategy is responsible for overseeing the strategy, planning, and execution of the Medicare product portfolio to meet membership growth and financial sustainability targets. The role collaborates cross-functionally and supports leadership to ensure that short- and long-term goals are executed timely and successfully with operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead team in identifying, assessing, and communicating recommendations on key opportunities for achieving short- and long-term membership growth goals across senior market products including MLTC and service areas, collaborating with Sales, Retention, and other departments to align on and prioritize final recommendations and successfully execute against them

  • Develop, update, and share strategy documents (e.g., growth strategy for senior markets, comprehensive market intelligence, deep-dive assessments of growth opportunities, etc.), insights, and recommendations with senior leaders and other relevant stakeholders on a regular basis

  • Lead team in managing and improving the performance of each Medicare and Integrated Product. This includes identifying revenue and cost opportunities and developing / implementing initiatives to seize those opportunities

  • Partner closely with other departments in Healthfirst to achieve the best possible outcomes for the CMS Star Ratings program, risk score accuracy, and medical cost savings

  • Develop and execute a successful annual Medicare bid submission, working closely with actuary on plan design and gaining executive leadership approval

  • Support Healthfirst policy and advocacy efforts with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the NYS Department of Health (DOH) by identifying opportunities, developing policy positions, and developing supporting material

  • Develop presentations for board meetings and senior leadership meetings, collaborating with VP Medicare and relevant stakeholders across the organization to ensure message is clear, targeted to the audience, and aligned with information shared by other departments

  • Lead and participate in cross-functional project teams and special projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

  • Extensive experience with Medicare and Integrated products

  • Experience leading teams, including both managers and individual contributors, to identify opportunities, develop plan of action, and execute

  • Strong analytic, strategic and planning skills; must be able to successfully facilitate sound business objectives within highly regulated industry

  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, ability to effectively manage time, and commitment to developing quality work quickly

  • Ability to effectively manage cross-functionally and directly

  • Strong public speaking and oral and written communication skills, with experience communicating complex messages to executive-level audiences

  • Demonstrated success in managing and delivering large, complex, and multifaceted projects with minimal supervision

  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel proficiency
