Job Description Summary

This position will build the Cyber line management discipline within Business Insurance (BI) to support the Cyber product, partnering with Bond & Specialty Insurance (BSI) and leveraging the scale and breadth of the organization to inform BU strategies, opportunities and investments. This role will:

  • Lead the BI Cyber Line from a health of the line and book profile

  • Partner with BSI to ensure BI effectively leverages BSI products and expertise, while also partnering with BSI on unmet needs for BI customers

  • Develop roadmap for Cyber products within BI and ensure one BI approach across markets

Other responsibilities include performance management, competitor & market analysis, financial line leadership, and helping to influence business strategies related to the product line. This includes but is not limited to State/Region analyses, business case development & post monitoring, understanding macroeconomic drivers, quarterly earnings support, portfolio mix & appetite steering, and other related activities. This position has an understanding broader than their product line and can recognize how certain trends would have an impact not only on their line, but other lines within BI. They ensure that the creation of Product strategies aligns with underwriting strategies by collaborating with BU's & Markets, Enterprise and BI Underwriting, Field teams, Actuarial, and others, and subsequently manages execution of those strategies (countrywide). In partnership with the product line VP, proactively assists in the development of the line of business financial strategies at a countrywide level. They also collaborate, partner, and influence markets to understand the line of business strategy, incorporating market and state level dynamics. Responsible for talent development, resource planning and assignments to ensure work is delivered on time with a high degree of quality. Strong leadership, talent development, resource management, insurance product knowledge, strategic orientation and operational effectiveness capabilities are critical to the success of this position. Leads the Line Management team in the capacity of a manager of managers and/or individual contributors.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strategy:

  • Assess, prioritize, influence and communicate strategic initiative options to senior leaders

  • This position will lead assigned unit strategic initiatives and cross-unit initiatives and is expected to participate in Enterprise initiatives

  • Perform and lead line management analyses to solve business problems and apply judgment appropriately

  • Drive day-to-day execution within unit. Drive broad department initiatives

  • Promote efficiency and identify appropriate resource needs across primary working group, balancing additional effort against incremental lift gained from work

  • Make decisions independently in accordance with Segment practices

  • Consistently provide direction and review others' work

  • Provide support as necessary for initiatives across the Enterprise within the scope of influence

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience in data analytics
  • 1 year managing others required

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge

  • Bachelors degree in Business Management, Mathematics, Management Information, Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics or other related field

  • Masters degree or Actuarial designation

  • 6 years of product management experience

  • Thorough Property & Casualty industry knowledge

  • Experience in senior level "general management" functions

  • Typically has in depth knowledge/experience in one Business Insurance product line

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Pricing, Actuarial techniques, and financial management

Licensing or Certificates

  • Preferred: CPCU, IIA, FCAS or other recognized insurance designations (examples: ARM, CIC)

Target Openings 1 Job Description Summary Reporting to the VP of Business Process Effectiveness Underwriting, Responsible for leading business process standardization, optimization, and practice of continuous improvement for Middle Market, National Property, and Business Insurance Field Underwriting in support of short and long-term business strategies. This role would own all business and technology processes as they relate to Middle Market, National Property, and Business Insurance Field Underwriting; managing and directing process improvements to strengthen operational efficiency and effectiveness. The role is accountable for enabling growth and profitability targets through optimization efforts. Other responsibilities includes identification of strategic investments, continuous improvement monitoring, and benefit realization tracking. Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: * Strategic thinker with an innate ability to balance thought leadership with strong execution orientation. * Provide expert level individual technical consulting, generate new ideas, influence senior management of their value, and assist in their implementation to achieve recommended benefits. Lead Process Optimization & Managing Partner Relationships: * Enable business model transformation; responsible for defining the interim and future state process * Drive and participate in long and short-term business strategies * Align with functional partners to develop and implement service strategies, policies and best practices to ensure appropriate customer and agent /broker experience (e.g., broker consolidation work, premium audit expectation types) * Lead migration of work to the ideal organization model * Partner with Business Unit leadership to identify business resources to support the optimization initiatives * Collaborates with the Strategic Planning & Execution process reengineering team to drive the discovery, planning, identification of solutions and objectives for the targeted business units and specialty practices * Partner with business subject matter experts to optimize processes * Lead optimization impact assessment; working with the team in identify problems, gather data and complete data analysis to determine the magnitude of the issue. * Partner with UW Effectiveness business support team to define process/procedures updates, communication and training needs * Drive the implementation of optimized processes and monitor change adoption/ decisions/activities * Assists the line of business to escalate and resolve project blockers * Coach team members on areas of development to increase their knowledge and work performance. Strategic Investments/Benefit Realization: * Lead the roadmap development, prioritization and governance. Minimum Qualifications * 7 years of experience in business process or Commercial Lines required. * 1 year of people leadership experience required.
