This position provides Human Resources innovative and proactive counsel and expertise to the Executive team of the aligned entity. This position demonstrates the ability to establish strong business working relationships with key line business partners including Vice Presidents and Directors to ensure strategic and operations needs are met. This position is a key contributing member of the Human Resources Team and works closely with his/her colleagues to ensure the delivery of the organizational capabilities required to meet the strategic goals of the respective organization and 'system". This position is responsible for the direction, coordination, and supervision of assigned personnel and activities.

I. Major Responsibilities:

Provides counsel and coaching to the President and Executive Vice President/COO of the aligned entity and his/her senior management team.

Provides advice on a variety of matters involving human resources strategies, policies, and caregiver engagement.

Leads long term planning efforts in collaboration with the Director of HR Strategic Programs and oversees the day‑to‑day operations of the HR function for the aligned entity which includes areas of both direct and non-direct responsibility.

Assists in the development of strategic plans. Identifies HR implications of these plans and recommends innovative programs and solutions. Oversees the implementation of the strategic plans including deployment of resources, design and implementation of programs and measurements of success.

Collaborate with HR Center of Expertise partners to assist in the development of objectives and goals to assist with pro-active activities to assure business and operational goals are met.

Fosters and maintains relationships across the UMMHC system to maximize employee talent and develop common approaches to programs and employee relations in meeting the evolving needs of the larger system. Works with leaders across the system to design and implement integrated programs.

Provides advice and counsel to ensure effective caregiver employment programs to meet all staffing requirements for the assigned organizations inclusive of internal transfer job posting program, external recruitment efforts to include special recruitment campaigns, advertising, the use of employment agencies etc. Has an active role in the selection of candidates for senior level management positions.

Reviews employee exit data, turnover statistics, recurring complaints, and related information. Identifies problem areas and trends and their causes. Develops and administers corrective action plans.

Required:

Requires a master's degree in human resources management, or a related area.

Experience/Skill:

Required:

10 years' experience including progressive HR management leadership which includes Business Partner model. Must have a thorough and broad working knowledge of human resources principles and practices, the ability to develop and effectively manage human resources programs for a large, complex organization, and excellent management and communication skills.

Must have proven HR generalist background. Prior union experience required. Must be a strategic thinking and able to operate in a team environment.

Proven experience as a coach and mentor required. Working knowledge of computers, including spreadsheet and word processing software applications.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
