The Role

This position will provide direction and functional expertise on complex projects/initiatives to lead overall data management strategy for his/her assigned area(s). In addition, s/he will provide strategic direction for Finance's data governance. S/he will communicate and liaise with program stakeholders and senior leadership from across the enterprise to secure resources, facilitate discussions/decisions, monitor program activities, and resolve issues. S/he will lead a team in support of data management and governance.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Finance Data Strategy

  • Provides leadership and strategic direction for efficiently and effectively managing enterprise finance data (EFD), working in close partnership with senior leadership, business functions, IT, and other related enterprise-wide resources.

  • Develops and maintains the long-term vision, strategy, and road map for standardizing and leveraging enterprise finance data.

  • Leads the creation of a robust inventory of data assets and assess key gaps including quality, accessibility, level of integration, and ownership roles & responsibilities.

  • Directs the development, execution, and maintenance of metadata definitions and a repository that catalogs data components across the finance enterprise.

  • Develops and leads the implementation of overarching data management policies, models, and change integration processes for EFD, ensuring consistent enforcement of policies.

  • Directs the establishment of "usage" standards, guides for consistent data use across the business functions

  • Directs a consistent approach for data modeling, flow, gap analysis, and risk management

  • Ensures the validity of data definitions and business rules across enterprise finance.

  • Directs the creation of an Accessibility Framework to enable cross-business consistency access for data assets

  • Chairs and/or leads coordination of ongoing EFD Data Governance forums.

EFDM Initiative Lead

  • Serves as an initiative / project leader, collaborating with the EFD Program Governance and EFD Committees to define, manage, and own the initiative scope.

  • Oversees day-to-day project management activities including status reporting, monthly financials, issue and risk management, and resource management.

  • Provides subject matter expertise and direction on complex systems and processes, recommending improvements aligned to business needs and ensuring project sponsors fully understand alternatives, requirements, and feasibility to determine the best viable option.

  • Partners with senior leadership to understand critical issues and devise, develop, and implement credible & sustainable solutions.

  • Manages complex issues (relationships, processes, technology) and ensure efficient resolution.

  • Builds strong strategic relationships throughout his/her assigned business area(s) and across LFG.

  • Participates in other strategic initiatives and projects within the organization.

  • Directs/executes approved strategy decisions and contributes to strategy creation for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Provides strategic leadership and direction to continually improve the capability and results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Directs, establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure departmental results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Directs and evaluates departmental performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.

  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) or responsibility, assess the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies

Requirements

Education

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)

Experience

  • 10+ years experience in data management and/or data process improvement directly aligned to the specific responsibilities for this role, including 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience including influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience (Required)

  • Drives performance targets to completion.

  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.

  • Understanding of traditional "ETL" type technologies.

  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches

  • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations.

  • Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions.

  • Drives performance targets to completion.
