AVP Consumer Pricing & Analysis

The AVP Consumer Pricing and Analysis is accountable for leading a team driving strong business decisions in Pricing Strategy, Segmentation and Optimization, Governance, Tools, and Analytics across the Consumer channel. The position partners closely with the leadership of the Consumer Segment and requires cross-functional collaboration with executive leaders in Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Operations to maximize profit growth, process consistency, and performance visibility. This critical role balances strategic portfolio thinking with tactical pricing management and expertise. This leader also leads regular initiative and performance communication with executive leadership focused on maximizing Consumer profitability.

Essential Activities:

  • Regularly lead the price segmentation and optimization of customers across multiple variables. Incorporate new insights based on customer, deal, part, and market factors. Dynamically incorporate insights to grow profitability and conversion.

  • Partner with Executive Leadership of the Consumer Business on strategic direction of the portfolio including business prioritization, pricing of new & existing offerings, and pricing performance improvement.

  • Recruit, train, lead, and develop pricing leaders and individuals. Organizes and coaches teammembers to best serve the business; sets priorities; monitors results.

  • Drives discussion and standardization of pricing and strategy recommendations with SVP-level leaders across Business Leadership, Finance, Operations, Legal, and Marketing functions

  • Leads development and communication of key metrics and analysis driving portfolio-wide performance.

  • 10+ years experience across Pricing Strategy, Optimization and Segmentation, Pricing Analysis, and Pricing Processes.

  • Strong experience leading and coaching a high-impact pricing team.

  • Bachelor's degree (Finance, Analytics, Marketing, Engineering) or equivalent. MBA preferred.

  • Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) applications

  • Experience with pricing software a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Serve as a key partner on the Personal Lines ("PL") leadership team. Design, oversee the implementation, and lead the Finance business partnering function for Personal Lines. * Manage the process of defining and building routines to regularly accumulate and efficiently analyze data from different parts of the organization, such as: Corporate Accounting, Actuarial (Reserving and Pricing), Business Intelligence, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Claims. * Lead recurring meetings with Finance and PL leadership (monthly and quarterly routines) to discuss business results and trends, including calendar year and accident year breakouts. * Connect business results with economic capital modeling work done in Finance on a routine basis to illustrate how capital is being deployed by the business. * Provide insightful analysis of PL state and line of business results and key performance metrics, integrating perspectives from Finance and the business. Extract insights and information from underlying data and draw conclusions/make recommendations pertinent to PL. * Participate in PL management meetings and serve as a partner to the business in all contexts. Serve as an information resource for Finance about business trends, results and activities. Interact and communicate observations with Finance and senior management. * Provide oversight and analysis during the annual planning process as part of the PL leadership team. Analyze our execution of the strategy (both in the 1 and 5-year views), planned business initiatives and core assumptions underlying the PL portion of the plan and recommend alternatives to achieve desired outcomes. * Work with the Personal Lines President, review and provide insights into the departmental budgets during the annual planning process before the budgets are submitted to Financial Planning & Analysis. * Partner with Financial Planning & Analysis and the PL leadership team, review assumptions and provide insights into the quarterly forecasts created. * Co-manage the Finance Operations Specialist including directing the day-to-day work, performance management, training and development. PLACEMENT CRITERIA: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent work experience with additional education preferred (e.g., MBA, CPCU, CPA, etc.). Desire ten to fifteen years of experience, require strong knowledge of the property and casualty industry and specifically Commercial Lines or Personal Lines. Prerequisites include: self-motivated, strong communication skills, detail oriented, be able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong analytical skills, coupled with a strategic mindset, are needed to successfully identify and provide insight about business trends.
