Responsibilities

  • Ensures that new loans and renewals are closed in compliance with the Bank's loan policy, Commercial Finance Credit Procedures, and in compliance with any other requirements designated by the credit approval.

  • Work with the Relationship Manager/Originator and Underwriter to gain an understanding of and interpret the key structural issues of loan transactions.

  • Manage the pre-closing requirements process with internal and external clients (Underwriter, Relationship Manager, Syndication Desk, Borrowers, Lenders)

  • Review title commitments and surveys to ensure that they do not contain any exceptions that are unacceptable to the Bank and escalate any discrepancies when necessary

  • Remain current on all pending and proposed regulatory changes affecting compliance.

  • Monitor and clear loan exceptions.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or military experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial banking experience in a large-ticket, loan closing, loan administration, or loan operations function.

  • Experience as Documentation Specialist, or Paralegal a plus

  • Strong familiarity with and ability to interpret complex Loan and/or Legal Documentation

  • Familiarity with LoanIQ and/or Stucky Loan Accounting Systems

  • Comfortable working in a team environment and supporting associates in remote locations (e.g. Chicago or Dallas).

  • Strong problem-solving skills with sound logic

  • Assertive, proactive, and results-focused (gets the job done, not just the tasks)

  • Ability to complete tasks in consistent and timely manner

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to details

  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented

  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and comfortable interacting with various personalities

  • Familiarity with Intralinks, SyndTrack or other similar applications

  • Articulate and focus within direct sphere of influence and when interacting with outside teams.

  • Plans and balances workload

  • Demonstrates ability to balance data with other factors when making decisions

  • Proactively identifies issues/opportunities and proceeds appropriately

  • Develops and provides guidance to others in team by sharing knowledge and training, including helping to cross-train junior colleagues

  • Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) skills

Job Summary The Loan Closer position is new to the Bank as part of an effort to free up our front line officers, and to assure better oversight of loan closings and documentation. The Loan Closer will work with the Account Officers and Legal Counsel to move transactions to closing in accordance with the approval and all documentary and collateral requirements. They will assure that all requirements of the credit approval are obtained and incorporated in the loan documents and assure that all documents are properly executed and received by loan and credit operations. Job Description * Work with Front office to develop procedures for Loan Closers to bring a loan from approval through closing. * Review credit approval to ascertain whether all necessary corporate documents are obtained and pre-closing requirements are met. * In conjunction with the Account Officer, Loan Closer will work with assigned Legal Counsel to make sure that the loan approval is received, and all pertinent points are understood, by counsel. * Assure required collateral is received and necessary liens and filings are in order * Assure required insurance has been received and is in proper form as required by the Bank and the approval. * Review loan documents with the Account Officer and Legal Counsel, to assure all collateral, covenants and other pertinent points are covered. * Work with Account Officer to prepare required closing memo and address any post-closing items. * Assure all documentation is executed properly prior to funding. * Coordinate the hand off to credit operations for all legal documentation, financial reporting requirements and any trailing, post-closing, legal or credit documents. * Follow-up with Counsel/Account Officer for any post-closing items. * Accrued knowledge of Bank loan and security documentation * Experience in closing both Commercial and Industrial (C&I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loans * Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role * Familiarity with UCC law and insurance * Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills and attention to detail * Paralegal background preferred All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
