Job Summary

Strategic Analytics is a growing team at Arch that develops analytical tools to improve profitability and growth and provides deep analytical insight for decision makers. To be successful, we need to develop powerful models, tools, and insights that give Arch a unique, competitive advantage.

We are searching for a Claims Decision Scientist to join the growing Strategic Analytics team. In this role you will work closely with senior leadership and partners in National Accounts, Construction, Excess WC teams as well as our partners in the Claims and Risk Control teams to develop tools to identify, mitigate, and reduce risk. The right candidate for this role will bring strong relationship-building skills, service management skills, acute customer focus, and a passion for quality execution as well as the requisite technical skills and experience.

Job Responsibilities

Develop Analytic Casualty Tools

  • Work with internal and external clients to create comprehensive analytic based tools to assist in meeting client's key performance indicators (including a deep understanding of client operations and industry exposures to develop strategies to mitigate risk).

  • Create analytic-driven action plans with loss mitigation and loss control strategies.

  • Develop customer specific dashboards focusing on key performance metrics by line of business.

  • Build and deliver program enhancing strategies aimed at claim cost mitigation and program best in class enhancement.

Relationship Building

  • Form and sustain relationships at all levels of organization and become a trusted influencer to impact business objectives.

  • Develop sustainable partnerships with National Accounts & Construction Underwriters to aid with value added services and products.

  • Cultivate working relationship with heads of Claims' Business Units to develop analytic based tools and solutions to mitigate overall claim costs.

  • Manage and grow ongoing internal relationships with all key Strategic Analytics' stakeholders.

Account Service

  • Work with internal and external clients to provide comprehensive, highly sophisticated consulting services to assist in meeting customer key performance indicators (including a deep understanding of client operations and industry exposures in order to develop strategies to mitigate risk).

Continuous Improvement

  • Apply a growth mindset that allows for continuous improvement of work product and service delivery in a collaborative way that provides consistent innovation.

Required Skills/Experience

  • 7-10 Years of experience working with claims in an insurance environment.

  • Minimum of 3 years of directly related to consulting or client service experience.

  • Strong communication and listening skills in order to develop and maintain relationships with Strategic Analytics and external customers.

  • Proven ability in advance level research, evaluation, and analysis functions of casualty claims, loss prevention, and underwriting services and operations.

  • Proven ability to deal with all levels of an organization.

  • Maintains a working level of understanding of casualty claims, loss prevention, and underwriting services and operations.

  • Successful demonstration of technical skills in areas of risk assessment, risk analysis, solutions management, and progress measurement.

  • Proficient in PowerBI, Excel, Python programming language, statistics, and SQL.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with coursework in Risk Management, Mathematics and/or Engineering preferred.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$200,634 - $271,446/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above range may be modified in the future
