About CX & SA

The goal of this area is to create value and to exceed customer expectations with every interaction by providing the best actionable decision leveraging information, tools, analytics and feedback from our customers and colleagues. The area comprises three distinct areas: strategic analytics, customer experience, and business analytics.

Overall purpose of role

Responsible for leading Data Science, Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics initiatives across Strategic Analytics

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead key advanced analytics initiatives starting from design, model development, summarizing findings to presenting recommendations to senior management team.

  • Build predictive models using traditional statistical methods (Logistic/Linear Regression, Decision Trees) as well as able to leverage Machine Learning algorithms (Cluster Analysis, SVM, Boosting, Random Forest etc.)

  • Work with various business stakeholders within Strategic Analytics to identify new opportunities to help improve existing business process with statistical models and segmentation schemes

  • Manage relationships with external vendors such as Experian to leverage alternative data sources and external scores

  • Develop actionable consumer insights for Barclays US cards, loans and deposits portfolio

  • Research on the latest trends in Big Data, Deep Learning and Data Science

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Proactively Work with appropriate Strategic Analytics, Credit Risk and Finance colleagues

  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills

Decision-making and Problem Solving

  • Continuously improve modeling/analytical techniques, evaluate and utilize new sources of data, upgrade our data and decisioning capabilities

Basic Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Operations Research or related quantitative discipline
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in statistical modeling or analytics in consumer finance industry

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Proficiency in SAS, SQL, EXCEL

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science

  • Deep understanding of Machine Learning algorithms

  • Proficiency in R, Python

  • 6-10 years of experience in credit card modeling or analytics

  • 3 5 years people management experience

  • Experience with using Machine Learning techniques to solve complex business problems

  • Familiarity with Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Spark
