Job Description

SompoRe is seeking an AVP, Actuary to join our Reinsurance Team to handle treaty reinsurance pricing for the North America Property and Casualty Reinsurance Team. Position will work closely with the reinsurance pricing actuaries as well as the underwriters.

The position reports to SVP, Senior Actuary and our preferred location is for the position to be based in New York City Office. However, possible locations could include Garden City, NY; Morristown, NJ or Conshohocken , PA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reinsurance Pricing Actuary handling transactional analysis, including pricing and risk assessment of incoming treaty submissions for each business unit

  • Designing, building, and refining actuarial models

  • Communicating pricing results with underwriters and resolving data issues with clients

  • Identifies trends and is able to make adjustments to models and assumptions to evaluate emerging issues

  • Supporting underwriters in attending and participating in internal and external broker and client meetings

  • Other actuarial responsibilities as defined by management

Desired Skills & Experience

  • At least Five years of experience. Some pricing experience required, with reinsurance pricing experience preferred. Experience in one or more of the following lines is a strong plus: Standard Casualty, Property and or Regional/ Multiline.

  • Equivalent degree and ACAS or near ACAS, preferred

  • Candidate should have good communication skills.

  • Needs to be able to hit the ground running, pick up our pricing models and work independently.

  • The successful candidate will be flexible, team-oriented, demonstrate strong technical and analytical skills together with the ability to multi-task and to prioritize assignments.

  • Proficient with MS Office applications with strong excel skills required.

Salary Range: $130,000 - $195,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
