CORE FUNCTIONS

Included, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develops and introduces new and/or enhanced products in support of the Enterprise's strategic profit goals and distribution needs

  • Responsible for developing sound actuarial rates/prices for assigned products

  • Participates with a product team in creatively solving product design, financial, marketing, and administrative challenges

  • Works with the Health and Life Business Units to assess competitive positioning and efficacy of distribution

  • Responsible for supporting the evaluation of potential M&A or partnership opportunities

  • Monitors profitability in light of emerging experience for assigned products or partnerships

  • Ensures that all relevant MAR controls are appropriately established and adhered to

  • Supports the Valuation and Modeling functions within Actuarial to refine, streamline, and audit processes and work products

SUCCESS PROFILE

  • Strong aptitude for understanding technical solutions and learning/utilizing tools

  • High ability to solve problems and work under pressure

  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills backed by exceptional ability to articulate and defend complex ideas and strategies to non-technical audiences in order to assure maximum understanding and positive impact of ideas

  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak to executive and board level officers in formal settings, and an ability to be persuasive in the presentation and "sale" of ideas and strategies that are difficult to understand

  • Advanced actuarial skills on pricing, experience analysis, data management and/or reporting

  • Advanced knowledge of insurance products, operations and existing regulations

  • A wareness of legal, political, economic and environmental impacts on the insurance products and operations

  • Experience with modeling software, preferably MG-ALFA

  • Demonstrated success working in cross-functional collaborative teams and in working with senior management

  • Strong organizational skills with a drive for transparency and efficiency

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree with at least a minor in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics

  • Ten years of actuarial experience in related product line as well as previous experience leading / mentoring a team

  • Experience with Annuity pricing highly desirable

  • Experience with valuation of M&A or reinsurance partnership opportunities highly desirable

  • FSA designation

Accountabilities: * Develop a comprehensive fraud detection and prevention program that mitigates risk and financial or reputational loss. * Provide strategic positioning of fraud efforts across the enterprise by overseeing the creation and implementation of consistent policies, processes, training, and response efforts. * Oversee and guide business areas through complex or high-profile investigations. * Participate in industry groups to maintain knowledge of threats and prevention strategies in the fraud and data analytics space.
