This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.

You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities:

  • As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will apply your avionics HW and SW expertise, to integrate, analyze, test, and validate new generations of avionics hardware and software platforms for various spaceflight systems.

  • Able to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with hardware and software engineers.

  • You will need to be able to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

  • Communicate risks, issues, and solutions to peers with various technical backgrounds and areas of expertise.

  • Create technical documentation including problem assessment/analysis, test data evaluation, problem resolution reports, and acceptance tests.

  • Present and defend analyses and reports during peer-level reviews.

  • Perform data interpretation, assessment, and analysis of integrated electrical/avionics systems.

  • At times you will be asked to act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

  • Work closely with design engineers to get hardware tested and integrated as it comes back from manufacturing.

  • 15% travel to other Blue Origin locations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical or aerospace engineering, physics, or related field

  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience

  • Direct hands-on experience developing and testing complex electronics.

  • Laboratory experience including ESD protocols, hardware handling, and rework documentation

  • Experience using common laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, programmable loads, and general-purpose data acquisition systems

  • Understanding of digital, analog, and mixed-signal parts and their use, such as: CPUs, FPGAs, microcontrollers, ADCs, DACs, OpAmps, Power Supplies (LDOs, Linear, DC/DC), MOSFETs, LVDS, SPI, I2C, RS422/232, IEEE 802.3 Ethernet, and PCIe

  • 3+ years of experience working with electronics or electrical/electromechanical systems, including hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: prototyping, design, integration, and/or test

  • Understanding of safety-critical systems development (aerospace, medical, automotive)

  • Ability to travel to and work at remote sites for extended periods supporting test and hardware integration, commissioning, and training.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Aptitude for hands-on problem solving, with a passion for spacecraft systems

  • Circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE and LTSPICE

  • MATLAB, Simulink, Python, LabVIEW

  • Version control systems such as GIT and SVN

  • Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the mechanical and electronic assembly product lifecycle

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PCB design tools such as Cadence, Altium, or Mentor Graphics

  • Soldering, PCB rework, crimping, harness/connector assembly

  • Test equipment, test rack design, configuration management, data acquisition

  • Test Automation Experience

  • Proficiency with scripting; programming and analysis/modeling tools: Python, Linux/Windows shell scripting; assembly language, C, C++; MATLAB / Simulink / SPICE (or similar).

  • Experience developing and testing complex electronic systems combining hardware, firmware, and software.

  • Experience developing and testing real-time embedded systems with a focus on modular and extensible architectures.

  • Experience testing hardware to MIL-STD-461 or similar environmental standards

  • Familiarity with avionics standards and guidelines, such as DO-178 and DO-254

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $109,980-$153,972
