Avionics System Engineer – Integration

Partial Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide system engineering experience in support of various avionics system integration, and on aircraft electrical modification engineering package design. Use Computer Aided Design application such as AutoCAD 2014, Inventor, and Solidworks to generate, modify, and revise engineering drawings in support of on-aircraft electrical modifications for various avionics system integration designs.

• Design system interface based on the OEM installation manual and use available CAD application to generate the interface engineering drawing (wiring diagram)

• Design electrical wire harnesses assembly and RF coaxial cable assembly using available CAD application to generate the engineering drawing

• Design on aircraft electrical installation for the wire harnesses, RF coaxial cable assemblies, electrical/electronic components using available CAD application to generate the installation engineering drawing

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Local hire preferred

• Four year Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree is preferred

• Three years direct experience with avionics system integration, wire harnesses and on-aircraft installation designs

• Two years of experience with AutoCAD 2000 (or later revision) application

• Two years of experience with Autodesk Inventor and Solidworks application

• Knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5

• Basic knowledge of 14 CFR Part 23, 25, 27 and 29

• In adhering to company polices, all employees are subject to pre-hire and random drug and alcohol tests

Working Conditions

The Avionics System Engineer works within normal shift hours (8AM to 5PM). Additional hours may be required for the position.

While most time is spent in a professional office environment involving long hours of seated work, the Avionics System Engineer must be able to crawl in an aircraft and take photos of some specific areas for design purposes and development.

The Principal / Sr Principal Subsystems Integration Engineer will be responsible for planning and executing laboratory-based integration of vehicle subsystems and system capabilities for a manned aircraft mission. This individual will collaborate with several stakeholders (responsible engineers, software engineers, system testers, systems engineers, and lab engineers) to lead development and execution of system and subsystem integration procedures, and maintain technical cognizance of system capabilities. These integration plans will support incremental software development drops that are linked to driving milestones. Essential Functions: * Work in a highly collaborative team to plan and execute integration activities required for system integration - Drive process development, modification, and execution. * Develop and execute subsystem and system level integration test procedures, and perform data analysis to validate integrated hardware and software functionality. * Perform troubleshooting and resolution of HW/SW configuration issues on complex systems to resolve issues related to system functionality. The successful candidate will have aerospace industry interest and a demonstrated strong orientation towards organization, detail, and product quality. Experience with formal system engineering, broad engineering, scheduling, liaison engineering, interactions with multiple technical disciplines, or software testing of a complex aerospace system will provide a strong advantage. Candidates must be comfortable and confident initiating and sustaining informed, productive discussion and team progress on complex problems. They will be working closely with individuals in highly diverse disciplines and levels of expertise, including leads. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. Basic Qualifications: This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Engineer level or a Sr. Principal Engineer level For a Principal Engineer a Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 5 years of applicable engineering experience or a Master's Degree in STEM and minimum of 3 years of applicable engineering experience. For a Sr. Principal Engineer a Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 9 years of applicable engineering experience -OR-Master's Degree in STEM and minimum of 7 years of applicable experience This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs Preferred Qualifications: Active DOD Secret Security Clearance (last investigation date within 6 years) Previous experience with design, development, and/or integration of Air Vehicle systems and subsystems in the military aerospace environment. Hands-on experience writing engineering modeling and simulation code Prior airworthiness experience Integrated Hardware/Software (Subsystem/System Feature) validation experience.
