Job Title: AVID Academic Coach (Positive Pay)

Function: To support college-bound students
Job Summary
Conway High School is looking for individuals to serve as Academic Coaches for its AVID program. AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) provides support for college-bound students through rigorous high school classes. Academic Coaches serve as facilitators to encourage students' collaboration, inquiry, and critical thinking.
Qualifications
Enrolled in or graduated from a technical college or university.
Demonstrates proficiency in written and spoken communication
Experience working with adolescents preferred
Essential Duties
Takes an active role in developing the academic and personal strengths of AVID students.
Assists students in the successful completion of college eligibility requirements.
Provides academic support for students in rigorous courses.
Encourages students to enroll in a four-year college or university after high school graduation.
Serves as a role model/mentor to AVID students by being a lifelong learner, demonstrating appropriate academic and social behaviors, and wearing appropriate attire at all times.
Is positive, professional, prepared and prompt at all times.
Assists students in maintaining their AVID binders (with calendar, assignment sheets, Tutorial Request Forms, and daily Cornell notes in all academic classes).
Participates in AVID field trips and motivational activities (when possible).
Becomes familiar with the specific routines and expectations of each AVID teacher's classroom.
Facilitates the tutorial learning process and implements AVID methodologies.
Supports district/site mission, policies, and procedures.
Completes 16 hours of initial tutor training and ongoing training as needed with site coordinator.
