Overview
We are seeking a full-time Aviation Services Sales Manager 1 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for the sale of aviation applications, databases and services to the general and business aviation markets, requiring technical and operational product knowledge sufficient to make judgments involving complex flight operations to persuade potential customers to buy Garmin products.
Essential Functions
Directly interface with customers, by way of inter-territory travel, product presentations, trade shows, email and phone correspondence and other means of communication
Identify, solicit, and cultivate sales and upsell opportunities with end customers, fleet operators, and be accountable for achieving established sales revenue and quantity growth goals
Lead development of well-organized and informative Garmin product presentations, seminars, business proposals, and webinars and plan, develop, and execute presentations at trade shows, sales meetings, and customer events
Assist in collecting, compiling and presenting competitive intelligence internally
Survey product markets to determine product potential or needs for new products and assist in the implementation of new product offerings in the assigned region
Aid in preparation of annual/monthly forecasts of inventory requirements and sales revenues
Represent Garmin in a professional manner at industry/professional meetings, trade shows, and other events
Coordinate efforts of Marketing, Product Support and Engineering departments to solve customer related problems and provide customer feedback
Quickly identify, gain internal consensus/alignment and create plans to respond to challenging customer situations that limit sales potential for our products and services
Provide timely, diligent and professional follow-up to customers and internal requirements, regardless of travels
Work with other Garmin sales managers to benefit from and build comprehensive sales strategies that may tie into other Garmin non-services related product offerings and assist in modifying marketing strategies, sales displays, brochures, rebates, promotions and unique product requirements for assigned region
Contribute to the development of marketing concepts and annual marketing plans to stimulate sales
Extensive travels within the assigned region is expected, with occasional travels outside the region and internationally to support national tradeshows and global initiatives as required
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree AND a minimum of 2 years' experience in a product development, engineering, marketing, or analytical role OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrated knowledge of marketing principles, theories and concepts and technical principles of avionics systems
Must possess a demonstrated commitment and passion for achieving customer satisfaction
Must be an articulate and fluent written and verbal communicator, and be at ease with public speaking
Must have the ability to work proactively/effectively with minimal supervision and is a driven problem solver with a proven track record in achieving goals
Must be positive, detail/quality oriented, organized, analytical, team oriented, and a multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize and manage time in a fast paced, challenging environment with excellent follow-up skills
Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
Desired Qualifications
Operational experience in aviation
Demonstrates operational knowledge of Garmin products
Demonstrates a general understanding of the avionics competitive landscape, products and systems
Avionics sales experience
Private Pilot's License with Instrument Rating
