DESCRIPTION

Amazon is looking for an experienced aviation minded intelligence and security leader for the Aviation Security (AvSec) Control Center (ASCC) at Amazon Air's Global Network Control Center (NCC) in Erlanger, KY. You will report to the Sr. ASCC Manager in Amazon's growing AvSec organization and partner closely with Amazon Air's (AIR) NCC and Global Security Organization teams to enable positive security outcomes for Amazon's aviation operations. The ASCC Manager works on a shift schedule and works alongside the Controllers, Operations Managers and Sr. Ops Managers at the NCC, enabling them to make informed decisions to maintain critical aviation operations. You will leverage your aviation operations, intelligence, and/or critical incident management experience to provide end to end coordination of regulatory, security, and air carrier escalations and intelligence sharing in support of AvSec Hub, Gateway, and regional teams, NCC, AIR and Prime Air site and regional leadership, and Amazon's contracted aircraft operators.

Key job responsibilities

The ASCC Manager is a member of a team of ASCC Managers providing 24/7 coverage at the ASCC to support coordination, communication, and escalation of security incidents and timely intelligence across Amazon's global aviation operations. In addition to security escalation, your role will focus on the identification, analysis, processing, and distribution of finished intelligence. You will quickly and discretely provide intelligence to assist in decision making and actively thwart emergent and current threats targeting our customers. A successful candidate must have a proven record of effective aviation, intelligence, security operations, and/or critical incident management experience and demonstrate good judgment while under pressure. You must be able to operate autonomously as the sole individual on shift, use discretion when dealing with sensitive and critical information, and apply sound data analysis practices to identify problems and recommend actions to address them. This role covers a 24/7 operation and you must be able to work shifts of up to 12hrs, including nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Intelligence gathering; processing incoming information, reports, and messages

  • Determining the significance and reliability of incoming information

  • Identifying and investigating new vulnerabilities and translating that analysis into actionable intelligence

  • Preparing all-source intelligence products; establishing and maintaining systematic, cross-reference intelligence records and files

  • Integrating incoming information with current intelligence and investigations

  • Post-training travel for this role is anticipated to be <10%
    Eligibility Qualifications:

  • This role is regulated by the TSA and may be subject to requirements imposed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Successful candidates must therefore complete all screenings prescribed by the TSA and the U.S. CBP.

  • Individuals hired into this position will have unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA). For this reason, eligibility for this role will be limited to individuals who pass a security screening, as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and TSA (as applicable).

  • This position may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing. Federal law requires Amazon to determine an applicant's history of DOT drug and/or alcohol violation(s) or refusal(s) to test before hiring applicant into a safety-sensitive position.

  • This position requires an employee's full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute their job duties to ensure the safety and security of Amazon AIR personnel, third-party contractors, Airport personnel, cargo, and equipment. This position is therefore designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and, where permitted, post-hire drug testing.

A day in the life

As an ASCC Manager, you will serve as the primary point of escalation for Amazon's global aviation programs, gathering critical details and providing guidance to manage incidents with the potential to impact life safety, operations, or the Amazon brand.

You will intake reports from the field via phone and electronic communication channels, coordinate any support required by the reporting party, and inform relevant stakeholders, including senior leadership, via a Situation Report that you develop. You may be tasked with coordinating and facilitating meetings to gather the facts and ensure the appropriate teams are involved. You will remain in close coordination with the Amazon Global Security Operation Center (GSOC) to ensure consistency in reporting and response. Between escalations, you will monitor open-source intelligence to identify potential threats to Amazon and develop finished assessment products to support proactive and reactive security risk assessments across the global aviation network. These could include strategic threat assessments for new locations, analysis of specific threat trends in a given region, or deep diving trends in incident reporting. Additionally, you will work on strategic initiatives for the ASCC and broader AvSec team which could include developing new SOPs, assessment frameworks, reporting mechanisms, or capacity building initiatives.
