Our Aviation Systems and Programs team is seeking an Aviation Cyber Security Systems Engineer to evaluate, secure and maintain a high cyber security posture for our avionics systems and products. Responsibilities of the Aviation Cyber Security Systems Engineer include:

Work with internal engineering teams and OEM partners to plan, design and develop security architectures to meet certification and business requirements

Perform security assessments of proposed and existing avionics systems using applicable industry guidance and methods

Generate and review threat scenarios and data flow diagrams to identify security risk

Develop and coordinate the execution of test procedures to verify security measures

Maintain Aviation security processes

Qualified candidates for this role will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math or Physics or another relevant engineering/technical field AND a minimum of 3 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience with a cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0. Candidates will also demonstrate proficiency with designing and evaluating integrated avionics systems.

Other requirements include:

Must possess demonstrated knowledge, education, and/or training in aviation system design, aviation system safety, or cybersecurity architecture

Demonstrated capability to offer peer technical assessments in areas of expertise

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with avionics systems

Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and superior analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality

Preferred qualifications include:

Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 as a general rule)

Software system design experience and/or knowledge

Exceptional personal and team oriented organizational skills

Experience and/or knowledge of security testing and/or penetration testing

Experience and/or knowledge of the SAE ARP 4761 safety process

Experience and/or knowledge of the SAE ARP 4754 system development process

Experience and/or knowledge of Software code development, validation, and verification, particularly based on RTCA/DO-178

Our aviation systems and human factors engineer 2 supports the successful conception, development and application of sophisticated avionics systems by performing user-interface reviews and system-level bench and regression testing for basic software changes. We are looking for a full-time Aviation Systems and Human Factors Engineer 2 for our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role you will be responsible for performing system level bench testing of complex software changed and new functionality as well as defining and performing system level regression testing. Other essential functions include: Identifies complex software issues and create software change requests that define necessary changes and steps to recreate problems Creates software change requests defining complex or advanced new features and functionality Supports software Change Control Board meetings and represent subject matter expert for the system level, user interface, and pilot aspects of changes Provides technical content for system design/description documentation for complex new features With some guidance, creates technical product proposals and related documentation in response to customer request Contributes to creation and definition of product roadmaps Work with development teams outside of integrated flight decks to support user interface consistency across all Garmin aviation product lines With some guidance, reviews customer requirements to assess compliance and/or provides technical support for OEM customer inquiries and issue resolution With some guidance, performs technical market research in support of product definition and/or business development initiatives and/or develops and performs human factors evaluations Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Human Factors, Math, or Physics from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 1-year relevant experience.
