Summary of Functions

Audio-Visual Technician II's support the sound, lighting and video needs of the entire casino property including the hotel and events center, and concert venues. They setup, operate and troubleshoot all audio-visual equipment for public spaces, concert venues and event venues as required for daily operations as well as special events. This includes, microphones, audio mixing consoles, audio processing equipment and distribution, lights, lighting consoles, cameras, video switchers, video processing and distribution, power distribution, system integration of laptop and desktop computers, installation of audio-visual systems and control networks. They act as a team leader offering guidance, support and supervision when management is not present.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Required to be technically proficient in all areas of production: Audio, Lighting and Video.

  • Will act as main point of contact for various resort and casino departments and guests/clients relating to AV and production requirements.

  • Assists management in leading department personnel on a daily and per project basis. May independently lead various projects and groups of personnel.

  • Provides one-on-one training, direction, encouragement, motivation and other feedback to fellow Team Members in accordance with departmental and organizational guidelines and best practices.

  • Provides guidance and training to AV Tech 1 Audio, Lighting and Video Personnel regarding internal equipment and procedures.

  • Assists in analyzing training needs and the development and execution of appropriate and effective training programs for the ongoing professional improvement of other team members.

  • Consistently leads by example (guest relations and service, sense of urgency, professionalism, appearance, adherence to policies and procedures, integrity and attendance) and seek out creative ways to help the performance of other Team Members.

  • Keeps aware of and communicates changes to policies and procedures to team and team leader and keeps training materials current.

  • Act as a team leader during events and offer guidance and support and carry out directions when management is not present to offer guidance.

  • Act as production technician to professional industry standards for all entertainment and live events.

  • Coordinate or assist with all AV and technical needs for meetings, conferences and conventions.

  • Includes loading, unloading and setting up equipment to, from and on the stage in accordance with a stage plot, event diagram, or an event designers' direction.

  • Hanging and adjusting lighting to the requirements of entertainers or event planners maintaining safety standards.

  • Wiring and setting up control equipment such as audio, lighting and video consoles at various locations on resort and casino property as specified.

  • General event labor including but not limited to moving and arranging chairs, tables, temporary staging, computer equipment, electronic display equipment, temporary lighting, audio and video, skirting and curtains to meet event requirements.

  • Appropriate packing, unpacking and the organization and care of all rental equipment for events.

  • To aid cleaning the pavilion, the outdoor concert venue, dressing rooms, and offices in accordance to guidelines set by management, supervisors and OSHA safety guidelines.

  • Operates film, slide, video, audio tape, compact disk, streaming broadcast, or television broadcast equipment to project or produce still or moving pictures, background music, oral commentary, or sound effects to illustrate, clarify, or enhance impact of presentation by speaker or performer.

  • Responsible for all video and audio reproduction for all public spaces including TV, music, announcements and paging, and special event broadcasts ensuring proper function and maintenance of associated equipment.

  • Maintains equipment in working condition and keeps a complete inventory of all Audio Visual and concert production equipment including but not limited to, audio, video, and lighting fixtures and equipment; outdoor venue chairs, roof, staging, grounds and grandstands; department vehicles, tools, and materials.

  • Ensures that the highest possible standards of guest satisfaction and Team Member relations are maintained and carried out in a fair and equitable manner in an environment conducive to that goal.

  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular good attendance record.

  • May be required to be a panelist for the Internal Review Board Process.

Required Competencies

  • Proficient in speaking, reading, typing and writing in English

  • Working at heights above 21 feet on man-lifts or trussing

  • Enter written information from computers to desktops drives, other drives or to emails

  • Operate various forklifts, trucks and other vehicles in a safe and responsible manner

  • Clear and efficient communication with guests for a variety of events

  • Must be able to work alone or in a group setting

  • Professional appearance and demeanor

  • Ability to improvise and provide troubleshooting based on event needs

  • Safe, efficient and competent use of standard, single phase and three phase electrical power

  • Ensure that all operations and areas meet OSHA safety requirements

  • Keeping department responsible areas clean and aesthetically pleasing

  • Advanced knowledge of systems including set up of audio visual and concert production equipment.

  • Reading and setting up of stage plots, lighting plots and event maps

  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Audio, Video and Lighting systems and instruments

  • Interdepartmental communication skills

In addition, applicants must be proficient in ALL of these areas of expertise (as measured by department proficiency test and management evaluation):

Audio Engineer

  • Must have knowledge of audio systems, signal flow and gain structure

  • Be able to read and implement an input list

  • Set up of backline music equipment

  • Microphone placement and patching

  • Ability to distinguish sound frequencies

  • Set up and patching of analog and digital audio consoles

  • Line check testing and troubleshooting

  • Proficient with all streaming platforms and technology for hybrid meetings and functions

  • Proficient with Symetrix and Dante digital networking systems programming and operation

  • Proficient with JBL Control software systems programming and operation

  • Proficient with Smaart Live software systems programming and operation

  • Proficient with Avid systems software systems programming and operation

Lighting Designer

  • Designing light plots

  • Knowledge of basic and advanced lighting concepts and applications

  • Artistic application of color theory

  • Safe rigging

  • Advanced knowledge of lighting power consumption

  • Hanging and patching lights from light plot

  • Gelling and focus based on light plot

  • Programming various lighting consoles

  • Experience with intelligent lighting fixtures and technology

  • Advanced Troubleshooting and problem solving of lighting systems

  • Spotlight operations

  • Proficient lighting designer for concert performances and events

Video Production

  • Advanced Camera Operation knowledge and skills

  • Live video switching

  • Proficient Technical Directing skills for events and performances

  • Digital video editing

  • Proficient with all streaming platforms and technology for hybrid meetings and functions

  • Proficiency in Final Cut Pro or other latest Editing Software

  • Advanced knowledge of video, IPTV, distribution, networking, and design

Education

  • High school diploma or (GED)

Experience

  • Must have held an AV Tech 1 Position or equivalent at Northern Quest Resort and Casino for at least 5 years. Or have worked in a related and equivalent position for more than 6 years.

  • Associate Degree in related field or 6 years' experience.

  • Experience in Sound Re-enforcement, stage lighting, electronics, broadcast television, musical instrument operation, stadium seating set-up and/or casino operational experience

Skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft and Apple computer software and programs.

  • Proficient with all streaming platforms and technology for hybrid meetings and functions

  • Must be able to read and interpret instructions from manuals, schematics and operational guides.

  • Ability to measure distances and heights accurately.

  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability and willingness to train and share experiences with others relating to skills or systems one obtained from professional training or knowledge through schooling, seminars, or industry experience.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tribal Gaming License.

  • Valid Driver's License (Must be in possession while operating a Tribal Vehicle).

  • Available and willing to work any changes in hours deemed necessary for Business Levels.

  • May be required to be a panelist for the Internal Review Hearings.

  • Certification is required to operate a forklift.

  • Applicants must meet all other requirements for employment by Northern Quest Casino and/or the Kalispel Tribe of Indians, which includes pre-employment drug testing and acquiring a gaming license.

  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular good attendance record.
