Job Summary

  • Perform installation tasks for audio visual projects including but not limited to: pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projects and metal fabrication

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform installation tasks for audio visual projects including but not limited to: pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projects and metal fabrication

  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints

  • Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors along with various other AV systems related tasks

  • Assist with basic mechanical fabrication and basic rack wiring

  • Projector and screen support structure installations

  • Test point to point functionality of systems

  • Mentor Level I Technicians

  • Communicate daily job site status to the Project Manager

  • Work with manufacturers to initiate return material authorizations as needed

  • Review equipment list with customer upon delivery

  • Travel to various job sites required

Skills and Abilities

  • Effectively communicate with employees, customers and colleagues

  • Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner

  • Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines

  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video and control

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of audiovisual installation experience preferred

  • Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Preferred External Training:

o InfoComm Quick Start to the audiovisual industry

o InfoComm CTS General Certification

o OSHA 10-Hour Construction Course

o Extron AV Associate Certification

o Crestron Professional Installation Certification

o AMX Intro to Networking for AV Professionals

  • Valid Driver's License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL Driving Privileges standards

What You Will Do STERIS' Installation Technicians act as the face of STERIS by achieving One of a Kind Service for our Customers. The Installation Technician is a field-based, Customer-facing role that primarily travels to Customer sites (medical facilities) to install Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department equipment. They provide complete equipment installation in accordance with plans and specifications including scheduling, delivery, installation, check-out, and final inspection of equipment. Installation Technicians are also responsible for building positive relationships with Customers and peers, as well as completing necessary administrative tasks. Relatable skills for this role include: working on large military or farm equipment, doing complex vehicle repairs, equipment installation, building maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, or other field service repair work. What You Need To Be Successful * High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of experience. Associate's degree in Mechanical Technology, or similar degree, plus 1+ year(s) of related experience preferred. * Valid driver's license. * Ability to work flexible hours, sometimes outside "normal business hours" and travel as required. Travel is estimated at 70-80%. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong technical, organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. * Experience navigating a computer and exposure to Microsoft Office programs. * Must be comfortable driving a large vehicle (Ford Transit van or similar) in the city and must be able to park the vehicle at your home. * Ability to work independently without supervision. * Willingness to work in a hospital environment which may include visibility to emergency trauma. * Physical Working Requirements * This position requires routine walking, bending, kneeling, and squatting, sitting, standing, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling and grasping. * Perform work from floor level to above shoulder height.This may include using ladders and/or scaffolds. * Routinely lift/lower/carry 1 to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/lower 36 to 49 pounds. * Walking and standing for extended periods of time. * Working in confined spaces and variable temperatures.
