Job Description

Hybrid, reporting to a specific location where work needs to be performed / collaboration should happen (regardless this location is within a hub) and without regard to where a candidate lives (some employees may end up hybrid who live more than 50 miles away but where business needs dictate them to be onsite at a specific location three to five days per week).

  • This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford Proving Ground three to five times per week, at minimum

About the Role:

We are seeking motivated candidates for an Autonomous Vehicle Calibration Engineer position at the Milford Proving Ground. The position involves significant in-vehicle and lab work, along with related analytical and performance verification activities. Calibration engineers engage in cross-functional teams, are expected to handle multiple projects/priorities, and frequently need to balance planned and unplanned work. A typical week includes in-vehicle calibration & testing, lab/bench/analytical activities, and collaboration with algorithm/software and hardware engineers.

This position will support calibration of the Advanced Driving Integration Module (ADIM) on GM and Cruise L4 Autonomous Vehicles. The ADIM is the main gateway controller between Cruise controls and the rest of the GM control system. You will deliver calibrations that ensure feature/diagnostic functionality and robustness. You will utilize vehicle/system hardware/software troubleshooting skills to resolve issues and complete your calibration standard work. In addition, you will analyze large sets of data collected during various driving maneuvers (in simulation, dyno, and vehicle), tune the system response through calibration and identify areas requiring a change in controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize calibrations to meet performance and timing requirements

  • Conduct calibration reviews to ensure high quality calibrations

  • Organize, plan, and coordinate calibration activities with Lead Calibrator and Product Owner.

  • Support identification of requirements and resources to develop calibrations

  • Diagnose and correct vehicle, system, and controls deficiencies

  • Support resolution of vehicle, plant, durability/dyno, or customer issues

  • Utilize analytical tools to develop & verify calibrations

  • Develop, use, and update calibration procedures

  • Participate in controls groups and support development of algorithms.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent discipline

  • Proactive and works well in a team environment

  • Excellent planner and complex problem solver

  • High level of oral and written communication skills

  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis

  • Excellent at dealing with ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vehicle Integration, Controls and/or Calibration experience

  • Prior experience with GM Autonomous Vehicles

  • Experience with tools commonly used in calibration: INCA, Vehicle Spy, CRETA, MDA,
