Under general supervision, responsible for performing and documenting results of general vehicle repair for the mechanical reconditioning process.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing domestic and foreign vehicles, and will range from basic to advanced skills based on available positions. Must be able to work well in a team environment, provide outstanding customer service, and follow workplace cleanliness, organization, and process standards.

Working Conditions

  • Combination of both office and outdoor environment; may include working at times in noisy and/or inclement weather conditions.

  • Requires walking or standing for an extended periods of time.

  • Flexible work hours with shifts that may include nights, weekends, holiday, and12-hour days.

  • Wears CarMax clothing (acquired through company) at all times working in the store.

  • Follow all CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA standards including the use of Personal Protective Equipment, and proper waste disposal in required areas.

  • Previous automotive experience required

  • ASE certifications will be required for select positions.

  • Auto Tech must read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records

  • Required to perform multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment

  • Lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs

  • Speak and listen effectively in dealing with customers/associates, both in person and over the phone

  • Required to have great attention to detail and have manual dexterity in both arms and hands

The selected candidate must have great attitude, good communication skills and a team-centric approach. Candidate must have a fundamental working knowledge of mechanical / electrical components and sub-systems well as integrated systems architecture. In addition, the candidate shall demonstrate willingness to learn and grow within the Structural Test field. The selected individual must be capable of and willing to follow instructions both written and verbal. Individual will follow the instructions of Senior Technicians or Engineers, possess basic ability to read and interpret technical documents such as drawings, schematics, sketches, procedures, Technical Orders, etc. Duties as follows: * Assist in the development, fabrication and assembly of mechanical and electromechanical components, sub-assemblies, systems and full scale test stands. * Fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. * Maintain compliance with Operational as well as Environmental Health and Safety directives. * Participate in training efforts This position requires multiple shift operations and overtime work. Individual must be able to meet and maintain the specific process certifications to support daily task assignments.Basic Qualifications: * High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience. * Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance and capable of obtaining and maintaining special program access. * Must be able to work from elevated work platforms and at elevated heights for extended period of time. * Must be able to lift 30 lb. Preferred Qualifications: * Airframe and Power plant (A&P) license with 1 yr.
