Position Summary

Continue learning new techniques to stay abreast in a rapidly growing automotive industry while diagnosing and repairing brakes, hydraulic, exhaust, electrical, suspension, alignment, air conditioning and computer systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair to specifications brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment.

  • Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis.

  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.

  • Assist fellow technicians/mechanics in performing technical activities.

  • Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.

  • Maintain an organized and neat bay.

  • Adhere to all company policy, procedure, safety and environmental rules.


  • A High School Diploma or GED

  • At least 2-3 years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.

  • At least 1 ASE certification is required for this position.

  • You'll also need a high level of motivation, energy and a customer-focused attitude.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Pre-employment drug test/physical/ background check will help assure we build teams of people who can best work with others and serve customer needs.

PAY GRADE: 240 - Grade 8 - Salary Range: $30,263.00 to $51,572.00. Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified experience. FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 Days (12 Months) REPORTS TO: Mechanical Technical Supervisor EDUCATION LEVEL: High School Graduate or GED preferred. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Certification in HFCF Reclaiming PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lift 70 pounds individually and move objects up to 140 pounds with assistance. Be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl and have depth perception. Be able to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather including cold, hot, wet and high humidity. Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. PROFICIENT SKILLS: * Ability to trouble shoot control circuits, air conditioning and heating systems. * Ability to repair all HVAC equipment. * Knowledge to use HVAC test equipment. * General knowledge of the energy management systems. * Ability to read schematic diagrams. * Operate HFCF reclaiming equipment in accordance with EPD and EPA guidelines. * Perform all preventive maintenance operations on controls and heating and air conditioning systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Maintain valid Georgia driver's license. * Maintain clean and organzied work vehicle. * Maintain all equipment and tools. * Responsible for ensuring vehicle is serviced and all safety features are properly working. * Safely load, unload and secure all equipment, tools and other items to be transported, either by vehicle or trailer. * Schedule required work. * Responsible for procuring and returning material from/to stock. * Requisition needed materials not stocked. * Report immediately safety hazards which affect the welfare of students and system employees. * Maintain records of all work requests. * Maintain safe work site. * Remain updated on code changes as they relate to HFCF Reclaiming. * Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
