Saint Paul College seeks energetic and dedicated individuals to apply for an unlimited, full-time Machine Tool Technology/Machinist position. The instructor is responsible for all activities related to teaching and learning including, but not limited to instructional planning & curriculum development, teaching & learning, instructional facilitation, student evaluation, student records, student recruitment, retention and advising, student placement, classroom preparation and management, interpersonal relations, effective team member skills and duties, maintenance of professional skills and credentials.

Salary and benefits will be based on the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) and the State of Minnesota. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Responsibilities:

Saint Paul College seeks energetic and dedicated individuals to apply for one unlimited, full-time (1.0) Auto Tech Instructor position. Instructor is responsible for:

  • Provide classroom instruction, evaluate and advise students;

  • Develop and/or revise curriculum;

  • Participate in department meetings, program advisory committee meetings, and college-wide events;

  • Maintain technical knowledge in the field through active participation in professional development organizations and events;

  • Promote and recruit programs within and outside of the College;

  • Promote diversity and cultural competency;

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean or Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Required Qualifications

Education Requirement

  • Post-secondary diploma or equivalent certificate in automotive services technology.

Occupational Experience Requirement

  • Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in automotive service technology.

Recency Requirement

  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) post-secondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Professional Requirement

  • Current ASE certification in the areas in which the faculty member is teaching.

  • Experience working in teams in a fast paced, interactive environment.

Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement

  • course construction (credit course)

  • teaching/instructional methods (credit course)

  • student outcomes assessment/evaluation (credit course)

  • philosophy of community and technical college education (credit or non-credit course)

  • Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.

  • These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, post-secondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired.   • This course shall be waived for individuals who, at the time of hire, have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.3)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hybird and EV technology either in teaching or training.
