Position OverviewThe Service Director/Manager is the leader of the Service department within an AutoNation store. This role drives the performance of Service Area by attracting, developing and retaining great talent and creating an exceptional service experience for our Customers.

Who Would I Interact With?This position interacts daily with Customers, Service Managers, Service Advisors, Technicians, Parts Associates, Parts Managers and other store Associates, just to name a few.

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

  • Setting a clear vision and goals for the Service Department to achieve targeted performance.

  • Driving a highly efficient sales and production operation to get Customers in an out quickly while ensuring our "fix it right the first time" brand promise is upheld.

  • Engaging and motivating the team to achieve key goals, performance expectations and AutoNation best practice processes

  • Attracting, developing and retaining the very best talent for the store.

  • Creating an exceptional customer experience to drive customer loyalty.

  • Ensuring the Service area is retail-ready with proper displays, point-of-purchase information and visible competitive pricing for maintenance products.

  • Managing the business in accordance with AutoNation and manufacturer requirements and processes.

  • Analyzing the business to determine shortfalls and developing action plans to improve performance.

  • Driving the business through a high-level of involvement in the day-to-day operations.

How will I know if I am successful?The performance of a Service Director/Manager is measured by achieving:

  • Targeted sales and profit

  • Targeted expense management

  • Targeted Associate retention

  • Targeted Customer Satisfaction Index

What are the requirements for this job?

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Service and/or Parts Management experience

  • Ability to set and achieve targeted goals

  • Proven ability to attract, develop and retain great talent

  • Strong financial and business acumen and the ability to drive revenue and profitability

  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills

  • Organization and follow-up skills

  • Experience and desire to work with technology

  • Valid in-state driver's license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record

This person will be expected to have up to 50% of time on the bench to support new product development and testing. This position may require 10-15% travel to support manufacturing and development activities at a research and or customer level. Plan, direct, and execute technical projects focused on the development of new products or technology in support of Coatings & Resins Automotive Refinish Coatings growth and profit objectives related to our color platforms. Principle Accountabilities: * Product formulation and modification against mutually agreed upon specification to support Automotive Refinish collision market * Designing and executing laboratory experiments * Problem solving to support all color platforms within the Collison portfolio * Support manufacturing both locally and globally in managing the relevant technologies and platforms * Communicate technical results to other technical, color, and marketing associates * Interact with other SBU's within PPG in order to support our internal brands and technologies * Investigate product complaints and follow through from root cause analysis to corrective actions * Adhere to corporate policies and government regulations by compliance with established standards on business conduct, environmental issues, EEO, and safety #LI-JG2 Experience and Education: * Bachelor Degree in chemistry or chemical engineering * Minimum 5 years of relevant laboratory experience * Previous experience in coatings technology and/or manufacturing (preferred) * Intermediate computer skills (MS Office) * Professionalism in being able to work both independently as well as in team environments * Working safely and following all standard safety procedures * Organizational skills to approach work in a logical fashion and to minimize complexity * Travel < 20% domestically (mainly Ohio and Pennsylvania locations) Success Factors – Prime Success Factors (focus on results, drive change, promote teamwork, build trust & respect and understand market & customer perspective) plus the following: * Communicate and share information * Attention to detail * Manage complexity * Plan and organize * Act with long-term perspective.
