Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; two years of automotive parts experience in ordering, stocking, and issuing parts, equipment, and supplies; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of principles and practices of inventory management.

Ability to read and interpret parts and supply catalogs, including on-line versions; to perform basic mathematical calculations; to perform physically demanding work including, but not limited to walking up and down stairs, heavy lifting, standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, reaching overhead, and working in awkward positions without choice or variety; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.

Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Duties

Under general supervision of Parts Supervisor, performs work of routine difficulty in procurement and issuance of vehicle parts (light duty, heavy duty, and bus), equipment and supplies. Orders, receives, issues and stock/stores parts, equipment, supplies and materials.

Inspects parts, supplies and equipment for conformity with specifications, contacts vendors regarding discrepancies. Research and orders specialized, or non-stock items as needed. Assists in conducting inventories.

Maintains contact with vendors regarding availability of parts, status of orders, and alternative sources of supply. Ensures parts are reconciled to work orders for billing. Performs computer data entry of inventory received, stock issues, and parts transactions. Perform other work as required.
