Assist in the education of transportation students in the labs. Monitor and coordinate student projects as needed. Schedule projects from internal and external customers to ensure students are able to meet education objectives. Manage the purchasing of parts and supplies, maintain accurate records, and coordinate work progress with customers. Maintain laboratory equipment. Maintain safe lab environments.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Manage transportation lab business operation
Order parts, manage service orders
Schedule vehicles for lab activities
Prepare lab testing/demonstration units
Facilitate transportation skill check-outs
Monitor open study lab
Clarify and reinforce materials taught in transportation courses
Maintain lab environment
Maintain lab supplies and equipment
Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in Automotive, Auto Body, Medium and Heavy Truck or related
6 months of teaching/tutoring experience in Automotive, Auto Body, Medium and Heavy Truck or related at the high school level or above
2 years of work experience in Automotive, Auto Body, Medium and Heavy Truck or related
An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Strong organizational skills
Good customer relations skills
Strong understanding of the transportation repair industry
Experience working in a higher education setting
Ability to perform work that requires the following lifting/carrying strengths:
Ability to perform in a work environment which may include the following physical functions:
Frequent: Walking, stooping, reaching, repetitive foot, repetitive arm, feeling, near vision (up to 20), midrange vision, far vision (over 20), depth perception, visual accommodation, color vision.
Occasional: Standing, sitting, lifting above shoulder, lifting waist to chest, lifting below waist, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, twisting/pivot, simple grasp, firm grasp, fine manipulation, tasting/smelling, field of vision.
Constant: Talking, hearing.

In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MnSCU) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MnSCU's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
