Position Overview
POSITION SUMMARY
This is a nine-month tenure-track faculty position that reports to the Dean of Technical Education. This individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: Teaching basic automotive technology courses, introductory and advanced automotive subjects, special topics, and supervising co-op/internship training, as well as, preparing students to pass certification exams.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach Automotive Technology courses
Create a focused and engaged learning environment
Prepare lesson plans and syllabi
Record grades and attendance
Participate in scheduling courses to meet student needs
Support the academic success of students
Prepare students for a career in Automotive Technology
Prepare students to pass industry certification exams
Maintain equipment, supplies, and lab facilities
Coordinate with part-time instructors
Create and maintain a safe learning environment
Participate on various college committees
Perform other duties as assigned or deemed necessary
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Appropriate industry certification, such as ASE certification to meet the requirements for MAST program accreditation, appropriate manufacturer's certification, paid experience working with combustible engines, or any combination of education, license, and experience equal to 5 years.
Excellent communication skills.
Highly organized, detail-conscious, and detail-oriented.
Work effectively with diverse populations.
Qualified applicants who do not presently hold an associate's degree will be required to complete one within four years of the hire date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Teaching experience
Associate degree or higher in a related field.
Working Conditions
Work is both indoors and outdoors, requires lifting up to 80 pounds, carrying objects of up to 50 pounds.
Work is performed in a non-smoking facility.
