Job Summary

As an Automotive Express Team Lead (AETL), you will play a pivotal role in our automotive express oil service center, overseeing and leading the workflow and productivity in partnership with the General Manager. Building on the responsibilities of the Automotive Express Technician Tier 2 role, you will also be responsible for training and developing Automotive Express Technicians Tier 1 and Tier 2, assisting with scheduling, labor costs, inventory costs, purchase orders, and stock levels. Your expertise will ensure lube procedural and certification/license compliance, and in building efficient oil change operations. Additionally, through partnership with the Service Advising team and General Manager, you will be involved in sourcing vehicle-specific oil and filter fitments for the express oil service center and with estimating recommended services. Role and Responsibilities

  • All Responsibilities of the Automotive Express Technician II Role: Execute all the duties and responsibilities of the Automotive Express Technician
  • Tier 2, including DVI snapshots, fluid exchanges (coolant exchange, brake fluid exchange, differential/transfer fluid exchange, power steering fluid exchange, etc.), oil changes, wiper replacements, engine air filter replacements, cabin air filter replacements, basic bulb replacements, tire rotations, basic battery services, EPR/MOA services, state inspections, vehicle transportation for fleet customers, and customer shuttle rides.
  • Car Count: Ensure minimum achievement of 20 serviced units per day (4 units per Tech) in the Express Oil Service Center.

  • Lead Workflow and Productivity: Lead the workflow and productivity in the Express Oil Service Center, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery.

  • Training and Development: Assist with the General Manager with the training and development of Automotive Express Technicians I and II to enhance their skills and knowledge.

  • Scheduling: Assist General Manager with technician schedules to optimize resource allocation and ensure timely service for customers when directed.

  • Inventory Cost Management: Oversee inventory levels and manage costs associated with oil, filters, and other consumables.

  • Purchase Orders and Stock Levels: Create and manage purchase orders for supplies, maintaining appropriate stock levels for smooth operations.

  • Lube Procedural and Certification and License Compliance: Ensure adherence to lube procedural standards and compliance with all necessary certifications and licenses.

  • Assist Service Advisors: Support Service Advisors when needed with estimating services that are recommended to customers.

  • Source Vehicle Specific Oil & Filter Fitments: Identify and source vehicle-specific oil and filter fitments for the express oil service center to provide top-quality service to customers when directed.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Experience: Proven experience as a skilled Lube Technician or equivalent automotive maintenance experience is required.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and guide a team, ensuring optimal workflow and productivity.

  • Training and Development: Experience in training and developing automotive technicians is beneficial.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage schedules, inventory, and purchase orders efficiently.

  • Automotive Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of automotive systems, maintenance procedures, and lube service operations.

  • State Inspector's License: Must hold a valid state inspector's license.

  • ASE Certifications: Relevant ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications are an advantage.

  • Valid Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license with ability to pass a motor vehicle review.
