Position Summary

An Automotive Diagnostic Consultant is responsible for guiding ALLDATA customers through automotive diagnostic and repair procedures by phone or web based communications. The details of the diagnostic and repair cases can then be recorded in the Experience Based Repair Solutions (EBRS) database. Automotive Diagnostic Consultants need to maintain a positive, on-going relationships with ALLDATA customers to ensure trust and create a strong basis for continued customer loyalty.

Position Responsibilities

  • Guide and verbally assist ALLDATA Tech-Assist customers and prospects with vehicle diagnosis and repairs by providing expert automotive advice based on personal experience, collaboration and research.

  • Contact customers to confirm that the guidance or fix provided solved the issue.

  • Utilize administrative tools to input repair information into the system for future publication into the EBRS database.

  • Contribute suggested repairs to ALLDATA Community and monitor forum-members' posts for accuracy and adherence to forum guidelines

  • General responsibilities: Email communications, participate in meetings, committees, and other duties as assigned. Assist other individuals, groups or departments when necessary to support internal and external customers and company objectives. Participate in software testing and any other special project or assignment as needed.

  • This position has no direct reports.

Position Requirements

  • Level of Formal Education: High school diploma or equivalent

  • Area of Study: General education, Automotive and/or Diesel technology

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 6 years

  • Type of Experience: Professional automotive diagnostic and repair

  • Current ASE Master Automobile certifications A1 A8 (or equivalent)

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of automotive diagnostic methodologies and system operating strategies

  • Strong skills in using electronically delivered automotive information programs (such as: ALLDATA, OEM websites, Identifix, Mitchell On-Demand, Technical forums)

  • Exceptional customer service and problem solving skills.

  • Proficient computer skills Windows based applications such as: MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Adobe and various internet browsers

  • Proficient data entry and typing skills

  • Must pass an Automotive Diagnostic Consultant written examination

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Most of the time is spent communicating via voice, using hands to fingers to dial and use phones, typing on computer and reading messages from a monitor or a hard copy documents.

Additional / Preferred Certifications and Skills

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Automotive and/or Diesel technology

  • ASE L1 certification

  • Automotive instructor experience

  • Shop owner/manager experience ASE C1 Automotive Service Consultant certification

  • Bilingual, second language (Spanish, French, other)

  • European manufacturer-specific diagnostic and repair experience and training

  • Diagnostic and repair experience on light duty/medium diesel vehicles - ASE A9, L2 certifications

  • Collision repair body, frame or paint repair experience ASE B-series certifications

Position Summary The Implementation Consultant (IC) is responsible to effectively and efficiently deploy CDK software to our customers working as a key member of the installation team and to train all customers' users either remotely or on-site. Position Responsibilities & Essential functions * Provide technical subject matter expertise by engaging with Client Implementation Manager (CIM) to understand business requirements, identify product and product setup requirements to achieve the agreed contractual aims. This includes verifying that the technical solution sold to the client is installable as sold and providing feedback to the CIM on technical gaps and risks. * Guide and advise the customer in terms of best practice operational processes and system usage practices to achieve best ROI for the selected product set * Establish (working with the CIM) the base software installation pack and configure the system to operate as expected. * Perform system integration testing where necessary to ensure the solution delivers what 's expected by the client * Manage and execute data migration activities (if required) to ensure the existing customer data is imported, validated and signed off by the customer prior to go-live * Verify with the client through UAT that the system is configured correctly * Execute the cut-over to production on the agreed go-live date * Provide on-site support to end users to guide, advice, train and verify that users are able to undertake their role using the products * Based on business experience and knowledge make best practice recommendations to the CDK configurations and/or client process to maximize client utilization and business results * Collaborate with the CIM and Sales to propose additional CDK software and business solutions to the client based on solid knowledge of the clients processes and business requirements * Escalate to client manager any issues with client engagement during testing and training, or any issues that could derail project success Qualifications & Job Requirements * Automotive dealership experience preferred * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred * Experience with executing customer-facing implementation or product delivery projects * Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and balancing competing priorities. * Excellent interpersonal/communication and presentation skills * Ability to travel 75% of the time PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES & Qualifications * Strong interpersonal soft skills (setting/managing expectations, conflict resolution, etc) * Ability to consult and collaborate cross-functionally with other departments * Ability to handle increasingly high volume of work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment in a calm manner CDK Global knows you have passions outside of work.
