Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a/an Automation Technician Day Shift located in Buffalo Grove, IL.

Offering a $3,000 sign on bonus

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Automation Technician Day Shift role involves

What a typical day looks like:

Analyze reject, downtime, vision data and operator input to actively identify causes of yield/productivity loss.
Perform complex/precise mechanical adjustments and troubleshoot precision mechanisms/devices to maintain optimal line performance
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex systems, including precision mechanical cam driven motions, rotary & linear servos, pneumatic actuators, and a wide variety of sensors/measuring devices
Respond to machine alarms as they occur, identify the root cause, correct as needed
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum systems and return to serviceability
Repair and maintain electrical controls on molding, assembly, and packaging machines
Repair pick and place tooling, mechanical systems, and controls, calibrate and adjust pick/place points
Read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics, mechanical drawings, and flow charts
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance actions on all subsystems and related components
Rebuild and repair critical devices and components
Assist automation team in validation and Measurement System Analysis of automated systems
Assists with customer presentations and interfaces with customers
Records procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or method
Maintain continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying automation/robotic system components
Maintains software, documentation and equipment to the latest revision or operational specifications.
Highly skilled with ability to move between projects.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

Strong experience in preventive maintenance
Minimum 2-year experience working in manufacturing operations as an automation technician/ field service technician/ Equipment maintenance technician or related experience
Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated understanding of mechanical systems/devices.
Working knowledge of electrical and control systems/devices
Understanding of PLCs, I/O, and logic
Understanding of automated manufacturing principles and techniques
Ability to effectively communicate and interface with customers, management, peers, and direct reports
Strong awareness of safety
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
Microsoft Office
Automated troubleshooting process experience.
Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Night Shift Automation Technician Lead role involves… What a typical day looks like: * Performs set up of high-speed automation equipment. * Monitors, audits and provides guidance to line operators. * Processes test runs and prepares records, charts, and graphs of results for presentation to engineering to identify yield problems or test new products. * Provides technical assistance to process development and engineering personnel * Offers guidance and assisting to the lower grade technicians in gaining the required knowledge through demonstrations of effectiveness and proven usage of existing skill set in real-time situations and makes sure that they progress properly in their careers. * Creates trainings for current and future technicians to help standardize work instructions and procedures * Identifies design related or mechanical flaws to help rectify them * Supervises major repairs & adjustments when higher grade technician are performing them and steps in to correct or complete them if needed * Communicates frequently with the supervisor and other forms of management to help explain and verify issues that occur on the machines and equipment * Keeps the lines functioning by delegating the repairs & adjustments as needed to the technicians that are capable enough to be able to perform them and steps in the do the fixes that are too complex or difficult for the technicians to successfully complete * Verifies that the associated documentation and reporting is being correctly handled by the technicians doing the repairs and adjustments * Assigns main tasks and responsibilities as needed to the technicians in the room to better establish roles and improve workflow * Creates a sense of agency in the technicians by giving them the knowledge needed to be able to succeed in their careers and to be able to support production more effectively * Monitors safety in the room and corrects unsafe behavior or environments * Keeps an open line of communication with the Quality team to ensure that all sampling is done as needed and expediently.
