Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add an Automation Technician

  • Sterilization located in Buffalo Grove, IL.

Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the Automation Technician

  • Sterilization supports automation engineering services activities including high speed assembly equipment and manufacturing systems at Flex Buffalo Grove.

Shift: 2:00 pm

  • 10:30 pm (Monday

  • Friday)

  • If selected for this role there is a 5% shift differential.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Maintain continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying automation/equipment system components.

  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components and return to serviceability.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance actions on all subsystems and related components.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams including complex automated system drawings.

  • Analyzes engineering test results and implements changes to resolve problems.

  • Collaborate with the engineering team in the qualification process of automated systems.

  • Proper use of power tools and measuring equipment.

  • Document equipment issues and propose robust solutions.

  • Development of preventative and predictive maintenance procedures.

  • Use of advanced problem-solving techniques to address issues with machines and processes.

  • Support creation of engineering documentation required to implement changes and improvements.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

  • Support the training and development of other technicians.

  • Support validation activities for new equipment and equipment updates.

  • Support control room personnel with technical issues, training and evaluation.

  • Provide ongoing manufacturing support.

  • Strong awareness of safety.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • BS in Engineering or Associates degree, Mechatronics training or equivalent experience.

  • 6-8 years experience in a technology-based industry, where automated equipment is utilized.

  • Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools - robotics, vision, material handling, Conveyors, PLC, HMI, Pick-Place-Pack, Inspection/Test.

  • Minimum 10 years' of extensive experience in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex manufacturing equipment.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with manufacturing of medical devices.

  • Travel required

  • 5%

Preferred experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience servicing and troubleshooting IBA Rhodotron E-Beam sterilization systems and associated supporting equipment.
