Job Description:

The Automation Technician B supports the department by setting up, monitoring, and adjusting equipment, as necessary, displaying efforts towards process improvements to reduce or eliminate scrap, improve productivity, maintain specified quality standards, and add value to the product.

2nd Shift: 3pm-11pm M-F

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Unjam and restart automated assembly processes

  • Set-up and start-up automated production equipment

  • Maintain production standards as needed

  • Perform and record routine inspections

  • Record pertinent data for inter-shift communication

  • Maintain order and cleanliness of department

  • May assist in the material handling as necessary

  • Other duties and projects as determined by business needs and production

  • Responsible for sustaining quality standards of in-process and fully-assembled products

  • Maintain Total Productive Maintenance list

  • Troubleshoot and resolve automated assembly problems

  • Responsible for training and mentoring other automation technician Cs to safely and properly operate equipment through a positive and supporting demeanor

  • Perform modifications and repairs to existing equipment related to productivity enhancement, continuous improvements, and engineering changes

  • Conduct product sampling under the direction of Engineering or higher level Automation Technicians, as necessary

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Knowledge of LOTO practices and proper machine guarding

  • Currently in school for Automation Certification or equivalent Apprentice program

  • Working knowledge of the proper use of hand tools used to repair and set-up automated assembly equipment

  • Proficient communication skills with multiple levels of employees

  • Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude

  • Forklift certification required

  • 1 - 2 years of previous manufacturing with automation assembly experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of automated machines

  • Comprehension of metrology and the use of measuring equipment

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair low voltage electronic components in a safe manner
