Automation Systems Engineer
Renewal Talent Solutions has partnered with Embry Automation & Controls to seek a qualified Automation Systems Engineer to join their team in Evansville, Indiana.
Embry Automation & Controls provides turnkey system design, system modifications and upgrades, and maintenance/repair solutions for industrial control and automation applications. Job Summary:
As an Automation Systems Engineer you will work primarily with industrial customers providing electrical system integration services. Most of your time will be spent working on smaller projects and will include oversight of the entire project from the design phase through implementation.

  • Work with customers to evaluate systems and determine customer needs
  • Full-cycle project management from design phase through implementation
  • Design control panels, order materials, and verify panel(s)
  • Perform in-house programming and design
  • Perform onsite commissioning
  • System integration
  • Perform other duties as required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering preferred
  • Experience with control systems design and implementation
  • Exceptional computer knowledge and skills with practical experience in networking for industrial applications
  • Experience with integration and implementation of control systems in industrial applications
  • Extensive understanding of mechanical and electrical systems including practical experience in systems integration
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC's preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to provide outstanding customer service and support
  • Must be able to maintain the highest level of professionalism and integrity at all times
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time
Note: A broad range of experience will be considered from recent college graduates to experienced engineers.

The Role The Automation Engineer is responsible for leading the successful execution of the automation activities related to the Liquid and Powder Strategy initiatives in the Evansville Technical Center (ETC). These initiatives include but are not limited to sterilization, processing and secondary packaging. * Assesses local automation/controls, data collection system and validation/qualification standards and partners to develop 3–5 year plan for system infrastructure updates and standardization. * Assesses local Plant Network and partners to develop 3–5 year plan for system infrastructure updates and standardization. * Responsible for the identification, development and implementation of automation projects which drive continuous improvement, productivity and sustainability of processes, controls, systems and equipment. * Explores industry trends, develops strategies, and drives leading edge technology and innovative solutions in Automation * Exhibits mastery of project management principles for the effective execution of projects that improve quality, safety, risk reduction, and plant capabilities. * Automation SME for the ETC * Establishes priorities and develops action plans to drive improvement. * Utilizes analytical, critical thinking, and structured root cause analysis techniques for problem solving. * Maintains validated/qualified state throughout equipment lifecycle. * Manages automation change control processes for the ETC * Participates in equipment FMEA's, to drive improved equipment reliability * Networks and partners effectively with management to promote an organizational culture that supports the achievement of business objectives. * Sustains the flexibility and responsiveness of a non-union workforce through effective leadership, teamwork and communications. * Collaborates with other departments (Global Engineering, Procurement, R&D, * Maintenance and Reliability, Operations, Quality, EHS, Finance, Compliance, IT, Contract Support, Supply Chain) to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. * Experience in writing and preforming automation qualification protocols (IQ,OQ, PQ) * Experience in preforming Field Acceptance Tests (FAT) * Aid in the automation skill development of Electronics/Metrology technicians * Ability to provide Automation and controls training of new equipment * Ability assist in equipment transition from ETC to Supply Centers globally About You * Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a technical area such as Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. * Minimum of 5 years in engineering roles supporting Automation controls * Minimum 5 years hands-on engineering experience with projects, automation and manufacturing. * Experience in manufacturing of consumer goods in liquid and powdered form and/or filling, packaging of consumer foods, (medical, or pharmaceutical) products desired. * Proven track record of standardization of software/hardware platforms across a facility and/or region. * Experience within a highly regulated environment required. * Strong knowledge in areas of asset optimization, life cycle management, and project management. * Expert knowledge in areas of regulatory requirements as well as equipment system qualification and validation. * Proven ability to work with people and cross-functional disciplines including but not limited to manufacturing, maintenance, marketing, sales, R&D, EHS, Procurement, Finance and upper management. * Demonstrated ability to work with customer team members, technical experts, professional staff, and focus on customer satisfaction. * Understanding of EHS, GMP, NEC, HIPPA, EPA and OSHA's regulations. * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Project Management Certification (PMP) a plus. * Project management and leadership of an automation project of that required Computer Systems Validation as well as interaction with different functions at diverse levels of the organization.
