As an Automation Specialist, you will drive improvements in production in Motion NEMA Motors in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in debugging, re controlling, creating/designing, implementing, programming and commissioning of current and future state automated systems in the Fort Smith motor plant. It will provide support to safety, engineering, maintenance and manufacturing of existing and new processes to improve safety and reliability of production equipment as well as implementing automation projects to improve manufacturing cost.
Your responsibilities
Set direction and take ownership of improving safety, reliability and productivity throughout manufacturing facility by implementing technology to solve problems and accomplish company and plant goals
Integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) and others
Debug, create, design, program and commission controls systems
Execute turnkey projects from early design and development through on site installation and implementation. Test machine functionality and verify all software involved
Provide training for machine operation, programming principles and program structure
Capital project justification and procurement for equipment, controls, tooling.
Confer with engineers, production personnel, maintenance or others to resolve machine problems or malfunctions
Your background
Associate's Degree with minimum 4 years experience OR Bachelor's Degree with minimum 2 years experience (Engineering Degree Preferred)
Preferred Experience Includes: BUS/SAP, Lean Certification, Visual Basic, Industrial Robotic Systems,
Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience with PLC platforms preferred
Experience with PLC and HMI programming and commissioning in the field required
Knowledge of network engineering and IT (PC handling, windows applications, PC configurations, virus scanners, interfaces, backup practices)
Knowledge of programming software licensing
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues for robotics, control systems and machine operations
Ability to produce from scratch, edit and interpret blueprints from Solid Works, AutoCAD, etc. - preferred
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
