Context: Our client is looking for an Automation Specialist.As an Automation Specialist specializing in water treatment equipment, you will play a crucial role in maintaining automated systems that optimize the operation of water treatment facilities. Your responsibilities will include developing control strategies, programming PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), configuring SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and troubleshooting automation issues. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient and reliable performance of water treatment processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work to insure and maintain a safe working environment for self and others by actively participating in safety programs and hazard identification.
  • Program DANFOSS AQUA DRIVE SYSTEMS
  • Program HMI (FactoryTalk and Wonderware).
  • Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation, control systems, analyzers and electrical equipment.
  • Develop or modify control logic to meet changes in equipment or equipment operating conditions.
  • Develop, maintain and update standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Review equipment startup/shut down plans to ensure safety.
  • Assume the role of controls subject matter expert: Attend meetings/audits as such.
  • Develop action plans to bring facilities into compliance with applicable regulations and codes.
  • Collaborate with others to share knowledge and create consistency across the company.
  • Research and perform cost/benefit analysis on new equipment or processes for potential use at any facility.
  • Assist in developing best practices in plant and field.
  • Set up and operate limited types of shop tools and specialized tests, measuring equipment and hand tools utilized in any phase of machine installation or maintenance.
  • Conduct or set up evaluation tests on valves, motors, instruments, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in troubleshooting 120-volt AC controls, 480-volt motors and switch gear.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting using loop drawing, schematics, ladder logic, electrical one-line, and P&I drawings.
  • Proficient in maintaining process control loops, electronic controls, valves, and transmitters.
  • SLC 500/5000 and Compact/Micro Logix experience.
  • Working knowledge of standard process software.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willing to travel in support of operations as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
  • Rockwell PLC certifications highly preferred.
