Description

  • Manages and develops equipment installation and process enhancement projects to support paint department goals and targets.

  • Leads and participates in paint shop equipment planning activities including the design, alteration, specification, supplier selection, installation, commissioning, and system acceptance of paint application and automation equipment.

  • Coordinates new equipment installation and investment projects (new model, structure, and plant small projects) related to robotic systems for paint application, sealer application, plugging, wax application, etc.

  • Steers activities of contractors in engineering, installing, commissioning, documentation, and sign-off of new equipment projects.

  • Drives and implements project goals in support of milestones for investment projects.

  • Provides technical leadership and training for production and ESA teams on new equipment installations and process equipment modifications throughout paint shop.

  • Develops/maintains electrical and mechanical specifications of paint application equipment.

  • Collaborates with procurement to identify and select qualified equipment suppliers.

  • Participates in cross-functional project teams supporting and/or leading activities related to new paint shop paint applications.

  • Supports plant/paint shop targets and goals: production, quality, safety, cost, associate, and citizenship.

  • Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.

  • Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics preferred) or the equivalent of 4 years of related robotic experience in a Manufacturing environment (Automotive preferred).

  • 2+ years of related experience with robots and automation in a manufacturing environment (Automotive preferred).

  • 2+ years of project experience a manufacturing environment (Paint Shop preferred).

  • As applicable, per BMW Training Guidelines.

  • As applicable per BMW training guidelines.

  • Lockout/Tag out preferred.

  • Must have a valid passport.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • 3+ years experience with written and verbal communication skills as proven through business application.

  • 3+ years computer skills (MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • 3+ years strategic thinking skills.

  • 1+ years general mechanical knowledge.

  • 1+ years robotic systems knowledge.

  • 1+ years engineering/project management/problem resolution skills.

  • Basic SAP skills.
