Your Responsibilities:
The Automation Learning Lab Technician is responsible for managing 10 physical training labs/classrooms in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. You will work with RAU supervisors and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure that all required hardware is set up and ready for 1-3 training courses that run each week. You will also be responsible for four storage rooms including parts and tools management. Larger projects will include hardware installation for major room upgrades. Onsite support may be required during events including escorting students in the building, working with facilities and security, being physically present when an SME is remote, and so on.
You will report to our Manager Global Development School of Technology and be based onsite in Mayfield Heights, OH.
Course Preparation and Completion Tasks:
Plan for upcoming course needs with the SMEs
Install or physically set up hardware and other required items (verification to be done by SMEs)
Troubleshoot hardware / software / firmware issues related to the set up
Assist with re-imaging and completing initial computer setup tasks associated with new set of incoming students
Copy virtual images to computers (verification to be done by SMEs)
Complete physical room prep such as printing and name plates
Prepare audio / visual systems, etc.
Onsite Support for Running Courses:
Provide onsite troubleshooting for physical hardware
Provide troubleshooting for remote hardware labs working with the SME and virtual platform team
Provide a range of onsite course support to the team - tasks may include escorting students in the building, working with facilities and security, being physically present when an SME is unavailable,
Course Completion Tasks:
Decommission and store computers upon completion of programs
Clean the lab and take inventory of hardware and tools after course completion
Larger Projects:
Complete specific projects to revamp entire spaces, including the installation of new controls equipment and/or related infrastructure
Troubleshoot hardware / software / firmware issues related to installation.
Provide detailed documentation of updates and changes (CAD, etc.)
Ongoing Tasks:
Act as lab captain and work through audits to meet facility requirements
Perform scheduled routine maintenance checks of lab room equipment and program applications
Create and maintain lab room documentation including CAD files
Communicate hardware replacement or repair needs to leadership.
Request shopping carts for hardware
Manage four storerooms and maintain spare parts best practices including ordering and receiving parts and inventory tracking
Assist in the managing and maintenance of tools
Lead and perform installation of new lab/demo equipment
The Essentials
Associates degree or equivalent combination of skills and education
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The ability to travel 10% of the time.
The Preferred
Requires a minimum of three years of demonstrated experience with control systems
Electrical / Mechanical experience including the ability to wire and install electrical equipment with a User Manual and follows safe electrical work practices
Ability to read schematics and read, review, and updates CAD files
Knowledge of general products, including controllers, motors, networks, safety and I/O.
Experience with Rockwell Automation core software, including RSLinx, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, Connected Component Workbench, FactoryTalk View ME/SE and ViewDesigner
Able to lead projects, including coordination with 3rd party vendors
Experience with cloud infrastructure and/or virtualization software
A desire and ability to new learn new products/technologies outside current areas of expertise
