Key performance areas

As the Automation Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for new product introductions, process improvement projects and every day production support. You will interact with your cross functional teams which include quality, production, product management and design department to perform the activities as needed. The Automation Engineer will also be responsible for programming and creating methods for batch manufacturing in regards to the 5 axis CNC environment and inspection equipment.

Your profile

The Automation Engineer must be able to leverage strong leadership, communication and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with management and employees. Must be able to read, write and speak English and possess good communication and problem solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft products, and be adept in project management. Must be able to work without direct supervision and take ownership of projects. Expertise in 3D modeling software's like NX, TDM, Vericut, Calypso, DMIS and programming languages like C++, C is needed. An Associate's Degree in engineering or minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment as an engineer required.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that the new product introductions run smoothly with good global communication and support from production.

  • Developing processes which help in optimizing production and reducing machining time.

  • Simulating programs to avoid machine downtime and proactively improve process and reduce scrap.

  • Benchmarking processes with other Sandvik units and identifying best practices which can be implemented globally.

  • Having knowledge in using Sandvik tools for different manufacturing applications with extensive machining experience.

  • Experience in creating process plans and using SAP - PLM software's.

  • Knowledge in GD & T, root cause analysis and six sigma methods is needed.

  • Basic knowledge in PLC programing and Fanuc controllers is preferred.

  • Following safety, health and environmental procedures pertaining to company, legal and ISO 9001, 14001, and OSHAS 18001 standards.

  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing preferred
