Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is actively recruiting a DevOps Automation Engineer team member to support a Cyber Security program based in Tampa, FL.
You will be working with our experienced engineering team developing industry leading virtual environments to support Department of Defense Cyber efforts. These environments are detailed engineering representations of current and future cyber systems.
We're looking for a highly motivated individual with an impeccable work ethic and a strong ability to work in a collaborative fast-moving dynamic team environment. The primary team will be located in Tampa, Florida with distributed team members embedded directly with the customer. Our ability to communicate / coordinate highly technical requirements with team members is a priority due to competing priorities and demanding deadlines. Ideally, the candidate should possess a deep understanding and practical experience with the use of various tools to enable a DevOps lifecycle, to include System Reliability Engineering and has demonstrated the ability to move DevOps from concept to implementation. Automates and continuously improves the DevOps infrastructure in close collaboration with software developers, testers, system operators, and other stakeholders through the selection, orchestration, configuration, and scripting of DevOps supporting tools. You must be able to work within a strict change management environment with the ability to document and test all changes prior to implementation. You will perform technical, operational, and security risk analysis for new changes and technologies and articulate risks in a succinct manner. Individual must be able to provide some mentorship and team / project organization skills. You must be able to quickly adapt new technologies to avoid limitations & obsolescence of both hardware and software.
Job role supports government cyber test and evaluation environments through the development of virtual environment designs using products such as Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, RedHat, and other enterprise solution products. Candidate will need to have a willingness to dive deep, experiment rapidly, and get things done.
Automation of scheduled jobs to reduce labor intensive tasks. (i.e. program and script build plans and artifact generation and retrieval tasks.) Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) for automation of infrastructure management
Utilizing Atlassian application suite (Jira, Confluence, Fisheye, Crucible)
Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies
Experience in designing and developing release cycle and deployment operations.
Source Control and Version tools (e.g. Git, GitLab, Bitbucket)
Application Containerization (e.g. Docker, CoreOS, Rocket), Automation Deployment Tools (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Kubernetes)
Experience scripting with some or all: YAML, JSON, Ruby, Perl, Python, BASH, and PowerShell
Experience delivering solutions in an air-gapped system
We are looking for experienced DevOps Automation Engineers that can serve as Subject Matter Experts (SME) in some or all of the following skillsets:
DevOps Development Frameworks: Experience working with multiple development frameworks and methodologies with the ability to identify opportunities for innovation in development teams and address identified problems. Experience working in SCRUM and AGILE environments highly desired. Experience leading development teams highly desired.
DevOps Engineering Technical Skills:
o Source Code Version Control (e.g. Bitbucket, Git, Github, Subversion)
o Automation server (e.g. Bamboo, Jenkins)
o Automation testing (e.g. Selenium, Unit)
o Software Containerization (e.g. Docker)
o Container Orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes)
o Configuration Management and Deployment (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack)
o Software Defined Networking (SDN)
o Binary Artifact Repository (e.g. Artifactory, Nexus)
o Issue and Project Tracking (e.g. Jira, Bugzilla)
o System Monitoring (e.g. Splunk, Raygun, Nagios, ELK, Zabbix)
Typical Minimum Education / Experience for Principal Cyber Systems Engineer:
5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 with PhD / NOTE: Four (4) years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of degree
Typical Minimum Education / Experience for Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer:
9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 with PhD / NOTE: Four (4) years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of degree
US Citizenship is required with an active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance which was active in the last 24 months
Must possess or be able to obtain DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher within two (2) months of starting
Experience with network design, virtual environments, and cyber systems design is preferred.
DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level III (CASP CE or CISSP)
Bachelor's or higher degree in a technical field highly desired
2 years of experience in DevOps Automation Engineering principles and technical implementations
2 years of experience in DevOps Automation applications and frameworks.
