POSITION: Automation Engineer
Apply engineering principles to design, modify or develop automation equipment, programs and processes to drive the company's manufacturing processes towards greater productivity, efficiency and quality.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Create and manage new robot production programs in a variety of applications including robotic assembly, grinding and waterblast applications.
Develop new robot programs that improve the productivity quality and efficiency of the equipment and the process.
Work directly with employees on the floor to determine and then implement needed improvements.
Design a variety of equipment components including part fixtures and gripper components using 3D modeling software, create drawings and acquire quotations from manufacturing vendors.
Create equipment specifications, requirements, cost analysis and proposals in the development and purchase of new equipment.
Coordinate and manage numerous aspects of project implementation including; design, specification, purchasing, installation, training and troubleshooting.
Create detailed documentation of equipment including drawings, set-up parameters, training instructions, operational instructions and preventative maintenance procedures.
Requires BS degree in Engineering with 1-2 years' experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, robotics systems integration, OR equivalent experience.
Knowledge of 6 axis industrial robots.
Broad general knowledge of materials science engineering and manufacturing processes.
High degree of mechanical aptitude with hands on approach in various manufacturing and production processes.
Problem solving skills; ability to identify complex programming or mechanical problems, review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Strong work ethic; must be dedication to the company's success and individual project success, maintain work schedule flexibility as required by project and department needs, responds to urgent situation. Must demonstrate ability to shift from one project to another when urgent situations arise.
Excellent communication skills verbal and written. Capable of interacting with various levels of the organization. Must demonstrate a high degree of objectivity and integrity in the evaluation of people and problems.
Must be able to work well with the hourly work force to understand first the request or idea from the operators. Then be able to translate that request into meaningful program or tooling improvements that help the operators. It is important the operators feel that the project has been successfully completed.
Fanuc, ABB or Kuka industrial robot programming
Solid works, AutoCAD
Python, Oracle, SQL
Basic knowledge / programming skills with PLC's such as Allen Bradley or Automation direct
