This position will be located out of Roswell, GA with frequent site visits and work from home schedule What does an Automation Engineer do at Imerys? Improve plant and equipment operating efficiency by providing automation & electrical maintenance and engineering support to the plant operations. Generate cost estimates and required documentation for both capital and maintenance project approval and must complete projects on time and within budget.

Coach electricians to improve skills and performance; ensure safety and environmental compliance with corporate policies and government regulations. Develop the annual maintenance and capital project budgets. Day in the Life Continually improve the operational integrity of the equipment by reviewing failures, PM schedules, and PLC programs to reduce cost and improve production output.

Assist engineering & local teams with CMMS (Tabware) & GE Data Historian implementation on NAC sites. Supervise and coordinate electrical & automation projects with engineering team, local site maintenance, and subcontractors. Identify potential process improvement projects, design and develop SCADA & PLC programs to address them properly.

Provide proper technical support to industrial trials for NPD when required. Troubleshoot plant equipment failures and respond to emergencies of safety hazards and environmental regulation infractions to ascertain equipment optimization, personnel safety and governing requirements of compliance. Develop operating standards for: 1) equipment to improve reliability and 2) inventory control of critical equipment through identification of procurement needs ensuring these standards maximize operating hours for production equipment, quality of product, and ultimately on time shipments.

Project Management and Capital Improvement. Work closely with the Sr. Manager of Engineering to develop the capital budget for the plant.

Prepare and submit plant improvement and electrical maintenance projects from estimating, scheduling, design, cost management, and commissioning to improve plant processes. Work closely with the Production Department to perform process performance testing, develop cost reduction projects, equipment improvement, and methods modifications. You might ask:

What do I need to be successful? Bachelors of Science degree in Automation, or other engineering discipline. 5-10 years in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated technical and relationship skills. Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems & automation software (SIMATIC WinCC), schematic design, remote troubleshooting is a must.

Possess plant maintenance and operation knowledge along with technical skills to perform assigned duties. Strong problem solving and analytical skills, maintenance, and project management experience. Strong computer skills required.

Experience with MS Office, PLC & SCADA programming. Must have working knowledge of fuel burning equipment, air flow control, pneumatic conveyance, hydraulic equipment, rotating equipment and material handling equipment. Must have strong team building skills through participative management, strong verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills. Position TypeFull time and

These losses are prioritized to focus efforts on the largest/most critical opportunities. In full partnership with the operations team, develop a plan to eliminate or reduce the losses through root cause analysis, obtains approval of the plan and facilitates the implementation. Manage risk to the achievement of an organization’s strategic objectives in the areas of environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality, and production. KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Contribute to this North America Division of IMERYS performance by ensuring sustainable excellence of fixed and variable costs, based on best tailored maintenance policy. Contribute through the I Cubed saving program related to Maintenance Work with Production to perform analyses of assets including: Asset Utilization Overall Equipment Effectiveness Remaining useful life Other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets Provides technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel. Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions. Plans annual Maintenance shutdown for critical circuits at all sites. SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES: Proven ability to oversee projects from conception to implementation, including managing personnel, developing sketches, reviewing detailed drawings, vendor negotiations, supervising contractors, and documenting final results.
