Job Introduction

This position reports directly to the SR Automation Engineer and is responsible for the general and specific job duties as described below:

Major Responsibilities

  • To lead and direct Company health and safety objectives that provide for a safe and healthful workplace for all Decostar employees.

  • Manage all aspects of The Magna Employee's Charter and ensure that the charter is adhered to by all Decostar staff by providing guidance and leading by example.

  • Implement the Decostar hiring plan using selection techniques integrating employee ability, prior experience, and in-house training to ensure future success with the Company.

  • Manage salaried staff employment agreements.

  • Maintain up-to-date job descriptions for all employees of Decostar which include required qualifications and necessary training.

  • Lead the development of the Quick Start screening and training process for the staffing of team members and technicians at Decostar.

  • Develop, maintain and distribute the Employee Handbook as required.

  • Develop a performance appraisal format for all Decostar employees and develop a system for monitoring and tracking such records for job security.

  • Implement an attendance program that reduces unexcused absences by employees.

  • To ensure that automation/robotic technical support is provided to all pertinent production department employees. This responsibility is geared towards a "train the trainer" approach with the goal of delivering first-class customer-service.

  • Participate in new program launch activities with the specific goal of assisting in the identification, installation and commissioning of the needed capital assets to support production requirements.

  • Coordinate training activities for appropriate personnel regarding the design intent, operation, and maintenance of automation and/or robotic system equipment.

  • Provide engineering support to the Manager of Operations with respect to automated and robotic systems.

  • Participate fully in Decostar continuous improvement team activities as directed by the Manager of Operations to ensure CI goals are met.

  • Coordinate new projects and/or engineering modifications as assigned. Ensure all work is in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations.

  • Assume project management responsibilities for any project assigned by the Manager of Operations and ensure that all timelines are met.

  • Assist as required in writing bid specifications for potential vendors for specific projects and create bid comparison matrices for the purposes of vendor selection.

  • Provide regular progress reports on the timeline schedules for all projects.

  • Continuously review and consider new technologies as they might apply to Decostar Industries. Make recommendations to the Manager of Operations for considering introduction of new technologies to the plant floor and be able to demonstrate the feasibility and justification for such technologies.

  • Provide automation and robotics support as required as it applies to all aspects of current and any future production systems.

  • Perform labor efficiency analysis and develop ideas and solutions to improve labor efficiency

  • Perform other duties as directed.

Knowledge and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study required. Minimum ten years work related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.

Work Experience

  • Must have 4 years minimum experience in programming Fanuc, Sepro, Motoman and/or other robot systems. Must be able to develop path programming from scratch, along with programming all sub-system interfaces (light curtains, safety circuits, other process equipment, SPI interfaces, etc)

  • Must have two year's minimum experience in programming PLC's.

  • Two years minimum experience in creating drawings in AutoCAD 2006 or newer preferred

  • Must be experienced in reading mechanical, system and layout drawings.

Skills and Competencies

  • Must exhibit strong PC skills.

  • Must have a demonstrated understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment and operational principles of mechanical components and systems.

  • Demonstrated exceptional oral and written communication skills required.

  • Demonstrated excellent leadership skills required.

VIEW JOBS 11/27/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-25T00:00 SUMMARY: This is an experienced position for building automation engineering/installation that will be responsible for the implementation of quality building automation control practices while providing engineering/technical oversight for construction site projects for a retrofit/energy performance contracting team. Specific responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to work as described below. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary duties. * Implement hardware and software designs in compliance with engineering principles, company standards and contract requirements during installation of project * Oversight of electrical installation subcontractor for compliance to design and implementation * Lead efforts in validation, commissioning and project implementation of BAS control system with Schneider Electric Products or others (@ Site) * Test/Validate hardware/software for correct operation * Test and ensure quality installation of graphical interface for client * Ensure quality installation set forth by standards developed by design team * Material handling and management of BAS related controls * Analyze building automation systems and recommend changes to improve functionality and/or energy efficiency or to accomplish ECMs * Create project documentation and participate in customer interaction * Provide input to other engineers during initial and subsequent phases of work. * Assist with the estimates and design of hardware/software adds, change-orders, and problem solutions * Lead efforts as the technical resource for building automation system with Construction team * Provide status and progress reports to project team and management * Ensure conformance to industry design standards * Provide technical training and support both internally and externally * Identify and develop necessary technical documentation to assist in streamlining the supervision and installation of Building Automation Systems for customers * Stay abreast of new development/releases of technology and apply to projects and processes as necessary * Assist clients and team members with any BAS operations, software, networking problems * Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients * Prepare letters, memos, and other routine correspondence and documentation in accordance with established company procedures * Ability to be both an individual contributor as well as a mentor of entry level employees * Signature level authority as indicated by the Authorization Level Document * Other duties may be assigned Other QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required. EDUCATION: * Four (4) year college engineering or technical degree required or equivalent work experience * Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification preferred * Other Professional certifications (LEED, CEA, etc.) a plus EXPERIENCE: * Working knowledge of Schneider Electric BAS platforms (Vista, Continuum, I/Net, and/or Invensys) highly preferred. * Working experience with other building automation vendors (Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Alerton, Automated Logic, ec.) highly preferred. * IT knowledge also highly preferred.
